So, I couldn't find this covered in the rules.

Are short film collections (ex. Looney Tunes Golden Collection or Chaplin's Essanay Comedies) considered like television collections, and all the information (cast/crew, audio, video) may be included in both parent and child profiles for the online?

Or are short film collections considered more like feature films, and all the information (cast/crew, audio, video) may only be in the child profiles for the online?

Personally, since short films are excluded from individual child profiles (per the rules on Alternate Profiles "Alternate versions are not used for contributing profiles for shorts or episode-level profiles for TV series.") I'm thinking they should be treated the same as television style box sets, but I'm also interested to see if others agree.

As you generally aren't (at least for the cast) dealing with a massive amount of data, it makes sense to list it in the parent and, if they exist, child profiles.

For something like the Pixar Shorts Collection, there is a tiny cast and very small crew for each film and, as they aren't included as child profiles with Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo etc., it would seem excessive to have a box set of five films with a combined runtime of 55 minutes.

I agree, that most of the times there won't be any child profile at all. Therefore the (potential) parent has to contain all data.
Complete list of Common Names  •  A good point for starting with Headshots (and v11.1)

If child profiles are optional then all the data has to be present in the parent.

Okay, I'll go ahead and submit the parent for the Chaplin set then.  Thanks everyone.
