vielleicht gibt es ein workaround indem man einfach eine erfundene UPC eingibt und andere user das einfach bestätigen, damit der Eintrag in die Datenbank erfolgt.... Man könnte als Medium zB "file" angeben.

we can do that with an example:
The movie Thunder Force was released on Netflix in April 2021.
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunder_Force_(Film)
I can enter the film manually for myself, but the database doesn't live on that. A UPC or Disc ID is nowhere to be found.
So how is that supposed to be done with this film, for example?

Ok, the movie is located at: https://www.netflix.com/title/81079259  (notice there is a number)

Step 1: Create a custom Profile ID using BulkEdit

Step 2: Copy the info from Netflix screen into Profiler (easy, even a program can easily scrape it)

Step 3: Capture "Cover" Images, arrange layout and enjoy

No, you don't have to use Plugins or "like" them. But they are part of Profiler, a facility created by Ken Cole to allow adding things not available originally.

He added custom profile IDs at my request several years ago. The only thing you cannot do, is contribute them. Maybe things would be different if whatever happened to Invelos didn't happen, but it did.

So, it is not true that no search token exits. It is not true that a UPC or discID is required to create a profile. It is not true that you cannot handle streaming media with DVD Profiler. I only touched the surface. There are even more things you can do.

And before you ask, here are some other things you can do:

- You can create custom fields, using one of several plugins
- You can launch the movie using My Links
- You can save and share profiles that you create, using a "profile file". Anybody could create a simple web site to search for streaming profiles. No, it would not be the Invelos database, but it would be for the Profiler Community, saved in database loadable format

So, I suggest people who have so much energy to whine and moan and cry and wish for impossible things, to get over it and use some creativity rather than constant complaining.

If you want to catalog digital, it might be better for you to use something like blu-ray.com's collection feature to catalog digital content you've watched and/or own.

Google Translate:
"maybe there is a workaround by simply entering an invented UPC and other users simply confirm this so that the entry is made in the database .... You could specify "file" as the medium, for example."

You could do this yourself.

Spent some time this week to optimize my "Streaming to watch" list. So instead of creating a simple Link-list and check ~100 titles by click & read a script does the work and I have just to read one list.

This software is called DVD Profiler.  It was designed to keep track of physical discs, and that's what the online database still does.  The software has been enhanced to allow you to track other types of media locally.  If you must have an application that keeps track of something other than physical discs in a shared, online database then DVD Profiler isn't what you're looking for.

i have what might be considered a dumb question,  why keep track of streamed shows?  or even digital copies of movies?  the only digital copies of movies i have is from the codes that came with the physical media i purchased.

Very nice, but is that a shared database, or your personal database?

Well one solution would be to go get some UPCs. I am thinking of starting a thread, along the lines of:

- GoFundMe to buy some UPCs
- How many do we need?
- Process for assigning a UPC to a specific streamed entity

Once a profile gets a legit UPC, then the normal profile review / approval / release / online process can be used.

Here I go again, focusing on solutions. When will I ever learn.

Except that such a plan would violate the contribution rules.

Quote:
What to Contribute

Contribute only the following items to the main database:

"DVD Video, HD-DVD Video, and Blu-ray Video" discs (including MiniDVD): These discs contain movies, television shows, music performances and other professionally-produced and sold DVDs. No CDs, DVD-Audio discs, video games, Video CDs, or VHS titles will be accepted.
“DVD Video”: These discs, included as bonus discs with CDs or video games are accepted, but only contribute the DVD Video information.
Dual-Disc DVDs (which store both “DVD Video” and “DVD Audio” information): These can be contributed, but include “DVD Video” information only.
UMD is not a MiniDVD and should not be contributed.

The main database should contain information about legal, professionally produced discs. Do not contribute "bootleg", other illegal DVDs, or privately created DVDs even though the content may be film or TV.

Thanks Skip.

This was The mantra all the while Ken was putting in changes to support Blu-Ray, etc. Can somebody find a copy of the rules before HDDVD and Blu-Ray were supported? As Skip used to say, this is "DVD Profiler," all the while Ken was allowing me to write LoadDVD, and people fiercely arguing whether it was cost effective to use a hard drive to store a 50GB movie. How short-sighted that seems today.

I predicted this response, although I wasn't sure who the messenger would be.

So what will it be folks? Can't have it both ways.

(1) Profiler needs to change to keep up with the times
(2) We can't do that, because the rules would need to change

The world ain't flat.

I have bought a lifetime license and would like to continue using the otherwise very good program.
If all users are of the opinion that the old rules are now obsolete and no admin or moderator cares anymore what happens here, it is only up to the users to do the best they can.
I am happy to contribute all of my manual entries from the past 1.5 years if I am abel to do that.
I will definitely not spend any money to buy UPC oder DiskIDs just to please this app.
