As I've mentioned before, I have bought a number of Dollar Tree DVDs with shared UPC numbers.  Two I submitted previously got changed. The new no-frills MGM release of Under Fire has the same UPC as For Queen and Country, and it got changed to that.  The same thing happened with Oculus being changed to Nicholas Nickleby.  I have a few more I got recently that I haven't submitted because my computer has been giving me an error message when I try to scan.  It's not as though it mattered in those two cases.  I followed the directions that people posted here, but it didn't work in those two cases.  I imagine it will be even harder if I try to submit new titles without images.

On a similar note. Frozen II DVD Only has the Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital combo pack cover even though I submitted the image.

FYI... If you want profiles for the Dollar Tree MGM no-frills DVDs uploaded into the database, you need to contribute the profiles via their disc ID.

I know you are going to ask "Why?"

For the Dollar Tree no-frills DVDs the UPC indicates the batch of DVDs they are selling and has no correlation to the tile of the DVD.

It is because Dollar Tree is buying and selling multiple batches of these DVDs. Each batch of DVDs they get, consists of multiple MGM movie titles, but share share the same UPC.

Every time Dollar tree gets a new batch of the MGM no-frills DVDs, the batch has a different UPC with all the different tittles in the batch sharing that new UPC.

Why not contribute them as alternate IDs? That's the intent for releases that share the same UPC but are different.  People shouldn't be willynilly changing an existing profile that has a different title simply because their release has the same UPC.

Because the UPCs have no connection to the DVD title. Dollar buys a batch of DVDs with assorted tittles say in Jan 2022 they all have the same UPC. Then Dollar Tree buys another batch of DVDs say in April 2022 with the exact same titles, but those titles/DVDs share a new single UPC but it is different then the last batch. Then Dollar buys a new batch of same titles in July 2022 the same thing happens. Then Dollar buys a new batch of some of the same titles and a bunch of new titles mixed in, in August 2022 the same thing happens.

Using "UPC alternate IDs" won't solve the problem. Every batch of these MGM titles Dollar Tree sells has a different UPC.

Are these UPCs on the actual cover art or is it a sticker UPC on the case?  Are the discs the same discs as the standard releases? If they are and have the same Disc IDs as the standard releases then you still have the same issue and would then have to create alternate Disc ID profiles.

These UPCs are printed on the actual cover art.

No, these are different discs, but have the same movies.

These Dollar Tree "MGM no-frill" DVDs have different disc IDs than the standard release DVDs.

The UPCs are on the actual cover art.  They are usually similar but not the same.  The MGM logo is different and not at the top of the front cover.  Also, when I say that they're no frills.  I mean you put the DVD in and the movie starts playing, and it goes back to the beginning when it's over, so no, they are not identical to the earlier releases at all, which is why I chose not to buy The Claim, for example.  But others didnt have much on their initial releases except menu stuff and/or trailers.

The latest I got are two from Relativity Media. Mirror Mirror and The Family.  Both have the same UPC, 828706547205, and in both cases, they are printed that way.  I bought three others that have the same UPC on a sticker, but I added those to my collection with the UPC printed on the cover art.  One is a new title to the database called Kitten Party (literally videos of kittens), the other two were TV seasons.  One is Doctor Who, and the other is Bitten.  The cover art of bitten seems to be different, but I haven't opened it yet, and that art may be on the interior.  LAtely I've been keeping things sealed until I'm ready to watch them.

They are and it's been widely talked about it here in the past.

As I don't live in the US, I know nothing about the Dollar Tree stores, so that's all-new to me.
