I am not aware of any rule regarding this, but I put my vote toward adding the spaces.  Without them, it makes the last word and first words look jammed together in the program.

Agree.

I use spaces either side as well, as without spaces it implies to me that it's only the single word either side of the '/' that the '/' is applying to (that was a tough sentence to write ). I won't use spaces either side if both titles are just single words though.

If this is not correct grammatically then I'd be happy to go along with what is. Can we have a source other than Wikipedia though please? I'm not entirely comfortable using Wikipedia as a sole point of reference ....

I agree, It does look better

You mean without spaces it implies "either, or" for multiple words? I suppose this is another problem, whether it's what you are referring to or not:

"The Fly/Return of the Fly" could for instance imply "The ['fly' or 'return'] of the Fly"

or alternatively:

"X2/X-Men 2" is technically correct, although obviously not as found on the DVD cover...

I still vote for my "/ " (slash-space) - why has noone challenged me on this sheer work of genius?

What's the advatange of this over " / " (space - slash - space) except looking much uglier and saving one character?

Well, aesthetic preferences aside, it doesn't imply the other two problems - if it was "/" (no spaces) it can also, and usually does in English, mean "either/or" - a choice of two options for one overall name, or it could be part of the name itself "XX/XY", "Face/Off" etc... if it was " / " (space either side) it may (or may not) be grammatically incorrect as that form is commonly used for denoting carriage returns, such as in poems, verses/stanzas, whatever...

Personally I would either go for "/ " (space after) or " / " (space before and after) because I think the no-space option has the most potential for confusion, but of these two I think I'd tend towards the former, if only because it is unique

There have been a few contributions of double features now where the contributor adds spaces on both sides of the "/" sign in the title, saying he adds spacing "as per the rules".

Example:

Village of the Damned/Children of the Damned

is corrected to

Village of the Damned / Children of the Damned

Can this be correct? I've never heard of the "/"-sign being used with spaces on both sides! I also think it looks much better without the spaces next to the "/".

Oh! I see! This is an April Fools joke!
