I cant get the plugin to work at all and when I try and stop the plugin via tool/view plugin and uncheck it I get an error

any ideas? Ive used the plugin for years and never had an issue before v 4.0.0

when trying to run a database repair, dvdprofiler wont close properly and I get this error External Exception C000001D
THEN aCCESS VIOLATION AT ADDRESS 00000000. rEAD OF ADDRESS 00000000 and I have to control/alt/delete to stop dvdprofiler

Ive removed all plugins and ran database repair and loaded plugins one at a time and its for curtain its this plugin giving me problems.

I have the same problem. Frankly, I do not know why that is. It does not break in my debugger. I assumed it is a problem in DVD Profiler and I had hoped, that it is only a problem on my PC.

- Make sure that all the dlls needed by the plugin are in the same folder with the plugin
- Make sure that the logged in user has access to that folder
- Try running the plugin with all other plugins uninstalled. If that works, then re-install the others. I recall some funny business with the settings XML in AppData\Local that was dependent on the order of plugins installation. In one case, my user of BulkEdit needed to erase the settings file and let Microsoft rebuild an uncorrupted one.

Good luck.
Thanks for your support.

No I must have confused you. My plugin sometimes was involved in the same error, not directly, but when it was installed with a specific other plugin - I forget which one. Also, one user of BulkEdit resolved a similar problem by erasing the Microsoft settings file. This is where Microsoft stores the settings that some plugins save, such a screen location and other parameters that it wants to preserve across sessions and even reboots.

Depending on the version of windows, the format and location of this file has changed over the years. Usually Microsoft takes care of it, but in the case of these plugins, in a rare case, one plugin causes Microsoft to overwrite the version that another plugin needs.

So the user has to MANUALLY ERASE the file, and then somehow Microsoft then gets back in sync. You will lose all the plugin settings.

It will be a file named "user.config" in the folder c:\users\(logged in user)\AppData\Local\Invelos Software

or possibly  c:\users\(logged in user)\AppData\Local\Invelos_Software

Close down DVD Profiler, save the file, then erase it. Clear the recycle bin, and for overkill you could reboot the PC, then try running Profiler again. Might get lucky.

Oooh no!

Same for all users? If not, there is still hope for Mike if we figure out how his environment is different.

Mike, if you are using BulkEdit,

(1) Uninstall it
(2) Uninstall awards. Make sure to use every copy of unins000 you find in the Profiler install folder. I'm not sure how Tom's uninstall process works. I learned a method from DJ Doena that removes all vestiges of the plugin from the profiler registry entries. Profiler is notorious for remembering each and every one of the multiple installs of a plugin.
(3) Delete the user.config again and Reboot PC
(4) Reinstall Awards
(5) Report results

If all else fails, we need to get Tom's GUID and we can construct an Innoscript that ensures that all previous installs of the plugin are removed. Of course, if he already does this, no need. Maybe Tom will comment here.

DVDProfiler should not be running while you install plugins.
