I don't think that's possible... bootlegs may have malformed EANs (but more likely legit ones stolen off other DVDs who no automated process will spot) but how can you tell whether the Locality is right? UK produced DVDs start the EAN with 50 but you don't have to go far to find plenty of CORRECT profiles for a UK title which are produced in other countries ... <quick look> Errol Flynn's "Adventures of Robin Hood" starts 73 (made in Sweden), All Creatures Great and Small 32 (made in France), Narnia is 87 (made in the Netherlands) and best of all Black Books 68 (not actually a proper country code but a fully legit release). Any automated system will either reject these as incorrect (which they're not) or would not recognise if they were actually Swedish/French/etc releases mistakenly given a UK Locality. | | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

In this time and age, who cares about airing dates? It's a digital datastream, just use lindvr and watch it when you want to.
Also... and this is just food for thought....
I have seen so many people say that they don't watch TV Shows as they air any longer... that they wait for the DVDs... and I am seeing it more often all the time. What happens if the majority of people start to see it this way. Shows will start to get canceled way before their time... not because they are bad shows... only because everyone wants to wait for the DVDs.
All the studios see is the show isn't being watched any longer... they don't see a reason for it. Then we loose our favorite shows and don't have the DVDs to look forward to.
Not every view is counted, and those guys with those count-devices WILL go on watching 
But see... that you just don't know. See I don't actually care. BSG got an extended 22 episodes season 4 because the iTunes and DVD sales set new records, despite fading TV ratings. |
