To do a decent scan is always a lot of work, i don't mind to put a little extra effort in getting a nice box or logo to use that unused height (in comparison to a dvd cover).

But if the majority wants it without any logo or case I can accept that too. The best solution seems to me  an option in DVDProfiler to display a local background image optionally selectable from disc to disc. So everybody can get what he wants and if there's a custom Blu-ray or HD-DVD case, don't display your Blu-ray or HD-DVD background image (banner or box). Of course, to get something like this to work, the scans must be without the box or banner (and Ken must implement that option too :-)).

As far as blu ray cases go...

Sony (Columbia Pictures) uses an embossed case logo.
20th Century Fox uses a flat case logo.

The scans as a result will not look the same. As you can see, we already have two different case types, but they have an identical overall look.

I'd imagine, due to this, if we ever got a steelbook type case, the top would still be blue with the BRD logo.
Signature banned: Reason out of date...

But they look so much better with it, and makes them that much easier to recognize at a glance when the front image loads.

That's my opinion, even though I don't have any HD DVD or Blu-ray

I guess that the top part (case part) of the cover will get boring once the majority of your movies will be HD. Therefore and because the scan results are usually better when scanning the cover outside the case, I would not add this top part to the cover scans.
