What should the title be for 'To Catch a Thief'/'Alfred Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief' (EAN 5014437825636)?  The cover says the latter, as does the film itself (screenshot here).

The IMDb has the title as 'To Catch a Thief' so should it be 'Alfred Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief' with the original title as 'To Catch a Thief'?  The same applies to 'The Birds' (EAN 025192027529).

If the cover and the film say 'Alfred Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief', then that is the title in profiler.  It doesn't matter what IMDb calls it.

Exactly... so it should be
Title: Alfred Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief

and no Original title.

According to the screen shot the title would be "Alfred Hitchcocks's To Catch a Thief Copyright MCMLIV By Paramount Pictures Corporation All Rights Reserved Paramount Pictures Corporation".

Seriously: not every text on the title card is automatically part of the title, not even when it's a director's name. Since "Alfred Hitchcock's" is set in a smaller type face, we could argue whether it's part of the title. If it's part of the title, then it is also part of the title that we use in profiler according the rules.

Looks like we're gonna need some regulation of avatars now.  Maybe an Avatar Registrar - and a first-come-first-served ruole.

Actually my statement about 'logical rules' just means that I personally don't think they are correct, or follow any recognized brand of logical presentation using the scientific method ( ) but I vote the rules no matter what I think.

If I personally think most of these rules are stupid, nonsensical, and too complicated - but I vote in accordance to those rules - then there's no harm, no foul.

Heck, I worked for over 15 years for a company whose management wasn't on the intellectual level of a single-celled organism. I went to work, did what they said, collected my paycheck, and all the while I berated them mentally. In fact, every day I left work shaking my head and wondering how their ancestors ever crawled out of the primordial ooze.

So I will follow the rules, no matter what I think about them. And when rules change, I will follow those. And I'll continue to make comments/suggestions to make the rules better and easier to understand.

That's all anyone can ask for.
