If a birth year is appended to a name in the credits (cast/crew), CCV on Deviant Skin doesn't show the headshot in 'award' column properly:

However, if the name hasn't the year appended:

Is there a simple way to solve this?

The headshot files have to be named "name(birthyear).jpg" in case a birthyear is entered for cast & crew.
Here it would be "John Williams(1932).jpg"

For the next version I have changed now though, that for skins the same behaviour as for the standard view exists. I.e. if no headshot with birthyear attached is found, then the one without birthyear will be used.

Sorry for not mentioning in the previous post. This issue occurs even I rename the headshot. But once you'll adjust it for the next version, that's OK then.

Is there a way to edit events in CCV 3 yet? Something I have miss so much is the shortcut (F8) to alternate between skins.

No, I haven't implemented editing of events yet. I will see that it is one of the next things done.

As the switching of the views is different now, I didn't think of implementing F8 here. Should it toggle between the different views, or should it only toggle between default view and the last selected skin?

Toggle between default and last skin would be more effective, IMHO.

Is there still anyone relying on the DVD Profiler 2 Export feature?
I know there were some in the past which used CCViewer as a converter to create DVD Profiler 2 XML files from an DVD Profiler 3 XML export.
If there is still need for it, I will try to get it into the next release. Otherwise I will give it low prio.

Yes, I use this feature at least one per week
So it would be fantastic to have it, of course if I'm alone I understand that the priority decrease

OK, I will try to implement it in time for the first official release.
As far as there at least one person who is using it, I am willing to spent the effort.
Would you be willing to beta test it? I don't have a way to verify, if the resulting export is valid.
For which software are you using it? Do you know if it would be able to handle UTF-8 XML encoding instead of US-Ascii that Profiler 2 used? US-ASCII just makes too much trouble. I had written my own converter in CCViewer 2 to be able to handle it. I would like to avoid it in CCViewer 3.

Did I hear "XML-Problems"?

hm ... what seems to be the problem? Do you to the XML-conversion 'by hand' or do you use the Windows-function for this? If the latter, a simple:
<xsl:output method="xml" encoding="windows-1252" indent="yes"/>
should do the trick, shouldn't it?

And no, I have no idea how to tab those resources, but DJ Doena wrote a small little tool, XsltTransform, that gave a GUI to this functions. Wouldn't it be possible to simply use this mechanism to convert the XML?
If the XSL for this is editable, and not hardcoded into the program, it would even be a plus on functionality!

I am using .NET's XML Text Stream writer. With UTF-8 and Windows-1252 I don't have any problems. The stream writer does everything.
DVD Profiler 2 did use US-ASCII in its export though. The last time I tried to use that encoding in .NET, the resulting XML was unusable. It does not replace non-ascii characters with its HTML entities.
So I would prefer to use utf-8 instead. The question is though, if the tool that Dedcap uses relies on us-ascii encoding.

In my case, it is a database export, and not a XML-to-XML conversion. I feel more comfortable to use XML Stream writers than xlst transformation. But this may be because I do not really have experience with XsltTransform.

I'll be damned ... just ran a test with encoding="us-ascii" used a profile that comprises among a lot of other data:
<Title>Bube, Dame, König, Gras</Title>
<PurchasePrice ... FormattedValue="€7,95">7.95</PurchasePrice>

xsltproc spits that out as:
<Title>Bube, Dame, K&#246;nig, Gras</Title>
<PurchasePrice ... FormattedValue="&#8364;7,95">7.95</PurchasePrice>
which looks fine.
saxon9he.jar does the same, so does msxsl.exe from a Window-commandline.

But when I use XSLT-Transform I get:
<Title>Bube, Dame, K?nig, Gras</Title>
<PurchasePrice ... FormattedValue="?7,95">7.95</PurchasePrice>

So, in theory it works, you just have to find out why even the commandline-tool msxsl, utilizing msxml4.dll, can do what the function used by XSLT-Transform botches up. (same .NET I venture to guess)

Yes, my output looks like the XSLT-Transform output.
In my old Viewer I had used msxml4 and there it worked.

Btw. I have finished the DVD Profiler 2 Export. Currently using utf-8 encoding.
