My preference is to have the rounded corners.  Here is why I chose that:

I have been increasing my DVD collection.  I have been trying to obtain several out of circulation Disney DVDs.  I have used Amazon.com marketplace and eBay to get these videos.

Asian cheap copies have a larger radius in their rounded corners vs the original based on my observations of DVDs I received.  The radius of the rounded corners is smaller in every true Disney DVD I obtained.

In addition, when I checked in the database for these movies, I noted most have the smaller radius rounded corners (which may indicate true copies) but a few have the larger radius.  I cannot confirm that Disney used the smaller radius vs asian knockoffs using a larger radius, but it is not difficult to spot a knock off DVD inside and in every case, the knockoff had a larger radius.)  In some instances I was able to obtain a true Disney of the identical movie and they had smaller radius corners.

Just my own observation based on my experiences with Disney DVDs in particular.  (I returned the cheap copies for a refund, but it is difficult to report to Disney of this piracy, I tried.  They don't have a ready link on any of their websites I could locate.)

I don't do covers often.  But when I do, they have rounded corners (if that's how they originally are).  Mainly because I don't have the know-how to fix them.  I scan things in and submit them.  There's no post-processing on any of my scans.

I am fairly new to DVDP so I have not made very many submissions, but this is one discussion I don't really get.
I have seen so many "discussions" about submission and a lot are basically "Don't change anything".  If the info on the box has certain words capitalized then they should stay that way, if there are italics they should stay that way (I think with single quotes???)  If an actors name is spelled a certain way it should stay that way, and so on, so why would we want to change the cover art?
There are so many people trying to keep things correct, the way they were originaly released even to the point of adding quotes where they were left, I don't think changing the cover art is the right thing to do.  Just my 2 cents.
And also not the end of the world either way!  Just commenting on all the other comments in the submission forum about not changing things.  I think the cover art was intended to be released a certain way and we should leave it that way.  I am sure they pay a lot of money for people to design these inserts and if we want all the other info to be correct then the cover should be "correct" also.

Well, I'm over my 2 cents so I'll shut up now.

This HAS to be one of the more inane and idiotic threads to date.  Rounded? Squared?  Who gives a flying fart in a sh#$storm? What counts is if the colors are correct and it's sharp.

Anyone else have that 'deja vu' feeling?
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I find it interesting that Aussie's call Brits, "Poms". Especially when you consider where the name comes from.

For those that don't understand why this thread was started please read the initial post.  There are obiviously people who care about this topic or they would not comment on it when approving or denying profile contributions.

I started it because, I want to follow the rules.  I would hope others would follow some rules of kindness and not post unwarranted negative comments.

And as I noted, McCode in my first comment, while it's not in the Rules for a variety of reasons, some users don't have the skills to knock off the corners, which can sometimes be quite challenging. For aesthetic reasons somewhere in the dark past, it became the standard, not by me I might add. Most of us who do so have been doing it for a very long time. If you don't have the ability to knock off the corners that's fine, likely at some point such a scan will be replaced by a more skillful user.. That is simply the way it is.
