Quick question, will the database be altered with these or is it up to us to go and update the incorrect profiles?

All of the updating is done by users.

Film Editor Roderick Jaynes is a pseudonym used by Ethan & Joel Coen when they edit their films.

Was listening to the Mark Kermode films podcast when he mentioned this, Probably common knowledge but news to me. Apparently the only fictional person to receive a Oscar nomination.

Name: Pedro Armendáriz, Jr.
Credited as: Pedro Armendáriz / Pedro Armendariz / Pedro Armendáriz Jr. / Pedro Armendariz Jr. / Pedro Armendariz Marquez

His father did not use "Sr." and died 3 years before Jr. began acting
Initially Jr. used "Jr." (most likely without the comma, but by consensus we will use the comma)
In his later movies, he has dropped "Jr." from his name. This causes confusion when, for instance, Sr. acted in "From Russia With Love" (his final movie) and Jr. in "Licence to Kill", with the same credited name.

Credit Lookup Tool:
Pedro Armendáriz Jr.: 142/323 (IMDb credits)
Pedro Armendariz: 66/130
Pedro Armendáriz: 60/92

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rene_Auberjonois
http://scifipedia.scifi.com/index.php/Rene_Auberjonois
According to http://www.lowerdecks.com/links.shtml,
this is René's official site http://www.renefiles.com/

All of these sources list René's name as René, not Rene (or Renee).  The problem with all of this is that in most of his roles he is credited as Rene.    Although the most commonly credited name is Rene, this is incorrect.  Being of Swiss descent René's cultural background is very French-like (French is one of the 4 national languages of Switzerland). All Francophones will agree with me that the proper way to spell René is in fact with the accent. This is one of the times that the credit lookup tool is just propagating bad data.

His most commonly occurring "Credited As" name is 'Rene'.

It does not matter if that is his "correct" name or not.

Someone please set me straight.  The credit lookup tool is "supposed" to tell us the "most common" usage of someone's name as per the DVD Profiler database.  I think it still needs to be reworked a bit.

Follow my logic here.  I am going to use the example of Stephen Anderson / Stephen J. Anderson / Stephen John Anderson

Search for Stephen John Anderson and it brings back results of 6 titles/15 profiles
PROBLEM: if you view all 15 profiles, the are all the same DVD just different localities: Meet the Robinsons

Search for Stephen J. Anderson and it brings back results of 23 titles/33 profiles
PROBLEM: if you view all 33 profiles, they are 3 unique DVD's (Meet the Robinsons / The Emperor's New Groove & Kronk's New Groove)

Search for Stephen Anderson and it brings back results of 14 titles/26 profiles
PROBLEM: if you view all 26 profiles, they are 5 unique DVD's (The Emperor's New Groove / Meet the Robinsons / Hetty Wainthropp Investigates / Hetty Wainthropp Investigates: The Complete First Serie & Tarzan (Disney))

If you were to take the results of the Credit Lookup Tool at face value, then the most common name usage is Stephen J. Anderson.  The problem with this is that Stephen Anderson is profiled in more individual DVD's (5 vs 3)

Please help me here.

I see your point, but I suppose it's a matter of interpretation. Should we count profiles, should we count titles, or should we count actual movies? The rules don't say. For that reason, and because of other issues which have repeatedly been discussed in the forums, I personally have come to think that the less I have to do with the Credit Look-up tool and Common Names, the better.
I am not saying I am not using it. It is in the Rules and we are requested to use it when we come across an actor credited with different names. Nevertheless, I just say I find more rewarding a contribution of a good cover scan, or audio tracks and studios and so on, or entering the actual credits as they are on-screen.

Name: David Ogden Stiers

This is a tough one.  In the greater majority of his roles he is credited as David Ogden Stiers, the parsing of this has been left up to us.  According to NNDB and
www.filmreference.com, his parents are Kenneth Truman Stiers (father) and Margaret Elizabeth Ogden (mother).

Using the lookup tool is kinda useless in this case as it does not take parsing into account.

Even though he does not hyphenate his last name, proper parsing should probably be David//Ogden Stiers according to my research.

Belatedly,

at the Oscars web site you can search by name but they want it Last Name, First Name.  It finds multiple credits under the last name Stiers and nothing under Ogden Stiers

Art Director "David // Saenz de Maturana" (Art Director in Borat)

These links show that "Saenz de Maturana" is his last name:

British Film Institute:
http://ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/individual/1239645

Danish Film Institute:
http://dnfx.dfi.dk/pls/dnf/pwt.page_setup?p_pagename=dnfliste4&p_parmlist=listeid=1@bogstav1=S@bogstav12=SA

Personal page in the ProductionHub directory, in category Crew > Art Department
http://www.productionhub.com/directory/description.asp?item=49052

On top of that, a simple Google search shows that "Saenz de Maturana" is a surname shared by a good few people:

http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&q=+%22saenz+de+maturana%22

p.s.
According to IMDb, he was also credited as "David Maturana" in some other productions, but in the Credit Look-Up tool there is only one occurrence of "David Maturana", probably incorrect as it refers to  Borat, where he is credited on screen as "DAVID SAENZ DE MATURANA" (11 occurrences in the Credit Look-up Tool).
