If this makes it into the rules could we alter the wording slightly to allow vol 1 + box anime releases to be classed as Box Sets in regard to using the Slip Case case type (if they are a Slip Case style box) even though they don't include more than one case, they are meant to, and it would be a bit silly having to class them as Slip Covers.

On a related note, I had a question about the Terminator 2 with the metal case. Is that not a slip cover over a keep case so thus it would be "Keep Case, Slip Cover"? Just curious.

Well if you go with the votes on the Profile the answer is yes it is. I must admit I'm not 100% convinced, but then I'm also not using the beta as my main version of Profiler, so I'm ignoring the hundreds of case updates that are coming through.

I think this whole Boxset/Slipcase/Slipcover is finally going to get settled .
It makes perfect sense now (but that's perhaps because it is exactly how I've always interpreted it ).
There's still a small shortcoming for those that don't use child profiles for TV series: with an actual Slipcase, you will not know what type of cases the DVDs are actually in. But I can live with that .

BTW, in a sense I also don't see a difference between Slip Cover and Slip Case. If I understand it correctly, a slip cover that contains 3 separate keepcases would still follow the Slip Case logic. And conversely, a Slip Case that contains 1 Digipak-book would still be considered a Slip Cover.

And you all think the Box Set was a mess this is just going to be a nightmare.  Its not really going to matter what the rules say or how they are written this is going to be a real mess. But we now made our bed and we have to sleep in it.

I don't think it will become a mess now, but the current wording with Slip Case vs Slip Cover is still a recipe for a lot of confusion (comparable to "Boxset" in the past). AFAIS, the only difference between both is where they are referred at in the software, which is rather unfortunate.
So I just think we need better wordings. E.g. the checkbox could be called "Secondary packaging" because basically that is what it is : identify whether there is a second enclosing case/cover around the main case. It doesn't matter whether it is a Slip Case, Slip Cover, or a glass cube of 10 in³.

I still don't see a need for the "Slip Case" case type at all.

What case type would you give to a cardboard box that contains 1 keepcase and 1 jewel ?

BTW, a simple example of why I think "Slip Cover" is a bad name for that checkbox. I have a DVD (I think it's Dracula 2002) of which the keepcase comes in an oversized box with lid. I think everyone would agree that this is still a Keepcase, but that we also want to check that checkbox to indicate something is sitting around the keepcase. But this is clearly not a Slip Cover. Well, it surely doesn't "slip" around the keepcase .

This would be a "Custom" case, not a keepcase.

Soprano's TV Season's are similar.

I would think that's a custom case from the description.

So if I understand correctly, the following would be designated as "Custom" with "slip cover" unchecked:

1. Batman Begins: Two-Disc Delux Edition (7-321900-732161)

This is a cardboard "slip case/cover" with one side opening, containing the movie (Batman Begins: Two-Disc Special Edition, 7-321900-732161) in a keep case, together with a comic book.

2. The Ipcress File: Two-Disc Special Edition (5-027626-237745)

This is a cardboard "slip case/cover" with one side opening, containing the movie (The Ipcress File:: 2 Disc Set, 5-027626-239947) in a keep case, together with a book (the original novel) and a poster.

I think those would both be Keep case with Slip Cover.  The books would be listed under the features section (I think).

I really don't see why a Keepcase inside a sleeve remains a Keepcase, but a Keepcase inside a box which is just a little larger, would then be Custom. In both cases, the DVD just sits in a Keepcase as pure a keepcase can be.

Currently in the online, the Batman one is "Custom" and the Ipcress is "Keep Case". Both are essentially an oversize slip case/cover containing a keep case and a book.

Hence my question. I think I misinterpreted Hal's definition (about five posts ago) and I'm comfortable with the "Keep case + Slip Cover " approach for both of these.

IMO, these are case type = keepcase,; slip cover checked.
