BTW, a simple example of why I think "Slip Cover" is a bad name for that checkbox. I have a DVD (I think it's Dracula 2002) of which the keepcase comes in an oversized box with lid. I think everyone would agree that this is still a Keepcase, but that we also want to check that checkbox to indicate something is sitting around the keepcase. But this is clearly not a Slip Cover. Well, it surely doesn't "slip" around the keepcase .

This would be a "Custom" case, not a keepcase.

Soprano's TV Season's are similar.

I really don't see why a Keepcase inside a sleeve remains a Keepcase, but a Keepcase inside a box which is just a little larger, would then be Custom. In both cases, the DVD just sits in a Keepcase as pure a keepcase can be.

Because there is no "box" equivalent to the "slip cover".

This arrangement that you have described, does not fit into any other case type, therefore, it is "Custom".

Also, Hal's example is wrong.  Season 10 of Stargate would have the master profile showing a "slip case" because it is the outer box that holds the thinpaks.  Each child would indicate case type with "thinpak".  There is no slip cover involved in that unit.

That's your opinion.

Ken specifically asked about the case type for boxsets if "slip cover" were implemented.  He implied that the parent really doesn't have a "case type" and I agree.

Trying to differentiate a "slip case" and a "slip cover" over complicates matters.  Who cares if there is one opening or two?  "Slip Cover" works for both, so keep it simple.

You'll read anything into what he said to get it to go your way, right or wrong.  Words mean things, and we've already defined 'slip case' and 'slip cover'.  You don't get to change that to suit your own agenda.  Btw, Ken didn't imply anything, that's just your fevered imagination.

Why don't you take your attitude someplace else!

What "we've defined" doesn't mean a damn thing. Earlier  TODAY, Ken defined how he wants these used.  Anything prior to that was OPINION, which I conceded in my post.

This is now settled, so crawl back into your hole!

On a related note, I had a question about the Terminator 2 with the metal case. Is that not a slip cover over a keep case so thus it would be "Keep Case, Slip Cover"? Just curious.

Yes, that qualifies as a slip cover.

Again, I really don't see the logic in handling a Slip Cover differently from any other wrapper package that sits around a standard casetype. The whole purpose of this checkbox thing was to still be able to see what sits inside the sleeve. I don't understand why we should do it differently if it is somethinig other than a sleeve, such as a an extra box with a lid, a slip case...
The fact that Slip Cover was taken into a checkbox rather than part of the casetype list is exactly because it is not the MAIN package HOLDING the disks.
I agree with you that the package around the keepcase is clearly Custom, but the main casetype is still a Keepcase. If the checkbox was changed into some secondary dropdown, then I would agree to have Custom there, next to Slip Case and Slip Cover (the two most common enclosing packages).

Its kind of like the difference between mittens and gloves.  Both cover the hands, but they aren't the same.  Some people want to call them by the same name, saying it makes no difference, and some seem to think a slip cover is a component part of a digipak, even though it has been pointed out to them that digipaks can come without an outer slip cover.

That's why this has turned into a such a mess.

We need pictures of each option just to stop all this arguing. If I get the chance tonight I'll do some and stick em up. Although of course we'd need Ken to confirm I'd got it right!

How would we handle something like "Dawn of the Dead: Ultimate"  where the discs are enclosed in a box but, not a slip case or slip cover?  Do we consider all things holding various case types, the check box for slip cover?

IMHO that would still be a slip cover.  It sounds like a slip cover with a closable flap.

As the Dawn of the Dead: Ultimate Edition is treated as a box set, then it would be parent profile = slip case, child profiles = digipak

I don't have this bu tat first blush I'd agree with 'northbloke'...'slip case' case type....no "slip cover".

I didn't realize it was a box set.  In that case, I guess it would be slipcase, not cover.

As promised, I've posted some images of how I believe the new case types work here.

After seeing northblokes pictures of this, it is a casetype of "Digipak" with the "Slip Cover" checked.
