A complete Messup.
There is a Sound Editor (for Example Blade Runner: Final Cut, Bourne Trilogy, The Island...) named Karen M. Baker who married 2003(?) and is since then credited as Karen Baker Landers.
She is actually nominated for an Academy Award for The Bourne Ultimatum
Credit Lookup says:
Karen M. Baker
91 titles (239 profiles)
Karen Baker Landers
55 titles (208 profiles)

IMDB uses Karen M. Baker as "Common name" and this reflects the "credit lookup" result, some Karen M. Baker credits are simply wrong. Which is the correct common name?
If Karen Baker Landers should be the correct version there is a different problem. This name has two entries in our online database. as Karen/Baker/Landers and as Karen/Baker Landers. I think that Karen/Baker/Landers should be correct?

I think Karen / / Baker Landers would bei correct, as "Baker" is not a middle name, but her first surname after her marriage.

As per Ken's statement on this subject unless you can document that the credit look-up tool is wrong we must go with it's results. So unless you can document that enough of them are wrong to the point that it would change the results of the look-up tool... that is what we must go by.

So with that being said... unless you can document enough of them to change that fact we have to go with Karen M. Baker

I think Karen / / Baker Landers would bei correct, as "Baker" is not a middle name, but her first surname after her marriage.

But then you don't know if she decided to use a double last name... or moved her last name to her middle and dropped her middle name as many women do. So you don't know if that is correct or not.

But as I said.. either way going by Ken's statements we must use credit look-up tool unless enough can be documented to change those numbers.

For german users:
http://www.dvdprofiler-forum.de/viewtopic.php?t=488&highlight=doppelnamen
This thems to be an american specialty to use your birth surname as second given name after the marriage.

I can not confirm that. I dont have all this movies, but the Karen M. Baker entrys for the different "Matchstick Men", "The Island" and "The Bourne Supremacy" profiles in the database are wrong and imdb based. I just checked my DVDs.

All you can do then (at least for the online database) is go by Ken's instructions... and as he said... best thing we can do about the look-up tool is to get the as credited in the database as soon as possible.

It may not be the best answer... but it is the only one allowed per the rules and per what Ken requested.

The credit Lookup Tool does not differ between Karen/Baker/Landers and Karen/Baker Landers but this are two entries in the database.

Point for Karen M. Baker...

What I was saying there is that either way we need to use Karen M. Baker as that is what the look-up tool shows as the most common name... whether we agree with it or not.

As of yet, there would indeed seem to be exist more Karen M. Baker credits than there are Karen Baker Landers credits. Unlike Pete, I'm not only checking the Invelos-database to establish that, as it's largely filled with incorrect IMDb-data, but I checked some of the credits in my own database and looked at some third party movie databases. Chances are that if she keeps being credited as Karen Baker Landers in future films, that at some point the balance will indeed shift to Karen Baker Landers. From that moment on, we only have the parsing of the name to disagree about. Isn't it great...

Go with Karen M. Baker since that is the most common in the Profiler DB.  Plus you don't have to worry about how to phrase Karen Baker Landers.

Tracy is correct the Lookup Tool if it is correct, which it probably isn't, gives the answer (Karen M. Baker) and since at this time it is the most COMMON name in Profiler that would be our answer.

Or we could, since Congress loves to meddle and make laws they have no business making, demand that they pass legislation which would standardize name usage in the US.

As a matter of fact, we might even be able to get them to FORCE Hollywood to standardize their credits.

I am NOT serious.

Sound editors are some of the worse when it comes to keeping the same name.

Indeed. Not only do they switch names around, but I've noticed they must have some of the most stable careers in the business. Many of their names appear over decades in my collection, unlike most writers, for example.

On topic: You'll have to go with Karen M. Baker for now.

I believe it should be Karen M. Baker, and I voted accordingly.
