Yes, we haven't decided whether to renew it yet.  Virtually all of our traffic comes through non-SSL connections.  Since we don't receive any financial information, we're debating the value.

I didn't know that the site had SSL support.

If I knew that, I'd have been using https whenever I browse the site from work (like now) since day 1.

SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer.  The addresses of these type sites begin with "https" instead of "http" and typically require credentials (user ID and Password) .  All traffic between your computer and the SSL site is encrypted to prevent "snoopers" from extracting personal information from the data flowing back and forth.

TLS (Transport Layer Security) is the most current security protocol and has replaced SSL in many places.
