I have noticed that in the earlier James Bond films that Ian Fleming's name is part of the titlein the beginning credits. Would this be accepted as the original title under the rules?

I would agree with you, Rl. BUT the Rules have been modified specifically to get rid of possessive's, it seems some users don't have much of a clue about how Sort title can work. And they don't like certain types of data.

I guess it could come under Original title.

No. The rules on possessives are very specific, and the way this possessive is listed on at least my own Bond discs does not meet the criteria for inclusion. And I really don't think the intent is to re-enter all possessives that can't be listed in the "title" field back into the "original title" field...

It's called ORIGINAL title, Tim. If the On Screen title (the ORIGINAL title) is different then... use the Original Tiitle.. Very simple.

The criteria for whether to include the possessive or not remain the same.

No, in the rules. Shall we do a poll to see in how many users' minds this particular rule is crystal clear? I'm game.

It seems you can't search under sort titles which greatly diminishes the value of anything you put in there.  Is there a different page layout format that would let you perform search in this field?

I go by data, midnit, not whether I like or dislike the data or my imagination. Nor do i like the concept of look here, look there to get the answer that you want. Never have NEVER WILL. I accept the change to the Cover because that is what I see on the shelf, but beyond that the change is pure garbage.

Take for example.

Frank Capra's "Arsenic and Old Lace"
Sort Title=Arsenic and Old Lace, guess where it shows up
Substring Search Arsenic...guess what i find...woo it works.

So, with the "T4xi" rule, have we all blu-ray James Bond which become:

007- Title of the movie  ??

We don't duplicate artwork, this has been discussed many times, surfeur,m this is NOT the first nor, i suspect will it be the last. As for the screeners, they are human and they are doing probably abourt 30,000 Contributions per month. Those James Bond films should be corrected. Even if it were correct the format is wrong.

I tried it and it did not seem to work.  I have all my IMAX films sort titled under "IMAX: Title" and there does not seem to be a way to search for them.

Rules : Use the title from the front cover.
On the cover, the title is clearly 007- Title of the movie, for all this edition. 007 are normal characters, easy to use. BTW, rules do not speak of artwork.

Quoting Dr Pavlov (on another topic):
Quote:

No, follow the Rules, they don't tell you to interpret the data. They tell you to take the title from the front cover, you can create your own version of the title locally, or you can conquer it for yourself through SORTTITLE or maybe Original title. As I noted there are sometimes where graphical representations simply can't be reproduced, and I presume we are all smart enough to figure that out. BUT the Rules answer the question....follow them.

Quoting Gerri Cole (on another topic):
Quote:
For the purposes of special characters in the titles, if you can type it on a normal keyboard without using an upper ASCII character, then you can use it. So in this case, M*A*S*H would work, but the dots in between the letters in FRIENDS would not be appropriate.
