It is desired to leave the needless season transcriptions off the Original Title. Your suggestion is at total variance with the poll result.

The other DJ is right, I was looking for the correct application of the rules as they were when I opened this poll.

No, it's not. The majority wants some form of season indicator.

No, everybody wants some form of season indicator.

He applied the rules correctly per his and others interpretation.

There's really no need for that kind of post.

Does someone still have the actual text of the original posting?

I'd like to reconsider, whether it is appropriate to rate it as a personal attack on a forum user.

It was something like "The poll result showed your application of the rules was not correct",
or something like that, in response to DJ Doena's "I was looking for the correct application
of the rules".

DJ Doena, did you feel attacked by my posting?

When in the future each location creates its own Original Titles:

Does the capitalization still has to match the Season Indicator from the cover, or do the common capitalization rules apply for the language, into which you translate?

I wait for the new rules to come out and then I see what to make of them.

Hey all,

Since VirusPil linked to this post in the newly created "Collected Statements from Invelos on contribution discussions", I wanted to share my opinion with you all. One that hasn't been mentioned in this discussion so far.

CLT results are based on the combination of production year and original title, or 'title' when the original title field is empty. Right?
Soooo.... why not use "Original series name" without any season number, volume number or anything else in the Original title field. In the featured example, this would be "Married with Children". The CLT results would give us better results based on the actual amount of titles. And if an actor appears in more than one season, the CLT will give you those results too, because.... the production year would be different (in 98% of the cases at least).

Let me present you with an example, Christina Applegate. Based on original title/production year, the current CLT results for her in Married with children are : 108 titles/143 profiles. So almost every profile has a different name. This should be closer to 11 titles (the amount of seasons made).
The First Season is listed as follows (many thanks to Goodguy's CLT+ tool):

That's 1 season, yet they are counted as 13 titles. 13!

These were entered by a few of our German contributors. I collapsed season 1+2 for you (both have prod.year 1987).

That's 9 titles, 30 profiles. More accurate for the CLT.

The main reason not to show the series name in the original title field is that if peopel view by original title, they can't tell what season it is.

Some people choose to use the option to show the Original Titles in the collection list (which is doable under Tools->Options->Display)

They'd lose the ability to distinguish between the seasons, which was one of the reasons I made this Feature Request.

Yes, having the season indicator (and, for child profiles, the disc number) as part of the title fields wreaks havoc on the CLT numbers. marcelb7's solution of always listing just the show's title, without season/disc indicators, would work, except that, as I already illustrated back on page #1 of this thread, that causes serious problems for the users displaying their collection by original title.

This is why Gerri ruled otherwise, but, as marcelb7 illustrated for us, that clearly doesn't work either. The one and only proper solution is to take the season indicator out of the title fields, and give it it's own field instead. We need that desperately.

Also a good solution, but then I would opt for a mass conversion by Invelos instead of manually having to change every profile. At the moment, there are over 60,000 profiles that have genre 'television', or close to 40,000 with the words season, serie, saison, staffel, seizoen (and similar words from other languages). If these have to be changed manually, it'll probably be finished in 2035....
