Does this result in a "producer" credit?

Did I miss something?  I was under the impression that T!M didn't think it deserved a credit either, but wanted to make sure.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Some may be looking my way from my post saying I could argue for the credit, but I assure you I skipped the poll the first time and just changed my vote to no to be sure I didn't accidently click yes before. I didn't.

Huh?!      I see that even when you and I are fully in agreement, that's not enough to stop your usual smearing campaign...

It were probably 6 of those "Knights of Nooo"   (You know, those that get an allergic reaction when confronted with a "NO")
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

The CLT actually shows 15 'Airplane!' profiles with Howard W. Koch listed as producer...

I also agree that he doesn't get a credit.

As for if it's a Production Company credit, well I looked it up on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences database search and they show the following.

Quote:
AIRPLANE!

PRODUCTION COMPANY: A Howard W. Koch Production.
RELEASING COMPANY: Paramount Pictures.

PRODUCER(S): Jon Davison.
EXECUTIVE PRODUCER(S): Jim Abrahams. David Zucker. Jerry Zucker.

Link

Just thought I'd post it in case it has any bearing of this at all.

Personally, if the Oscar people don't consider him as a producer then I don't either.

So, they do list it as a production company. IMO it should be listed in DVD Profiler as production company as well.

Based on the data and that there is NO copyright for Howard W. Koch Productions, I couldn't disagree with Rho's assumption more. Just because a website published currently call a credit a Production Company does not make it one. the data doesn't support the claim and we take the data from the disc not some website which has NO affiliation to the alleged company.

I really wish people would stick with hard data from the SOURCE (the film) and stop trying to turn this program into a variant of another database with many pieces of errant data dragged in from sources which have NOTHING to do with any given film production, Sources which they do not provide documentation for, kind of like some of our users. And our Rules do say to use the disc for the data whenever possible. Guesses, assumptions and conjecture do not replace hard data, nor are they the components of a quality database.

I'm not taking any sides in this.

However, this is from the Oscar database of how the credits are compiled.

Link

Quote:
Every year, as part of the Academy Awards process, the Academy gathers credits from films hoping to qualify for awards. To these credits, compiled and verified by the film's producer or distributor, we add credits from other films released in Los Angeles County, using research materials from the Academy's Margaret Herrick Library.

As with any database or source, errors can and do occur, and to be safe it is probably wise to not include any credit that can't be verified by only the films credits.

But for those that want to argue for certain data, I suppose one could use the Oscar database and their way of compiling their data as an argument for their side of the debate.

Let's see...Airplane! was made in 1980, almost THIRTY years ago. Long before the Internet became any kind of public resource..so once again, they are certainly better than IMDb but they supply nothing to back up their data and their data does NOT match that of the ACTUAL film. KLike I said a good database is not built upon assumptions, guesses, conjecture, opinions or data which cannot be verifed, especially when we have a source spelled out in the Rules that we are to use. So argue away, it is outside of the Rules at the very least.

It seems odd one of the most prominent credits isn't represented in any way, but the program doesn't really seem to be set up to handle this.
