As far as Invelos is concerned, the only program that Ken Cole (DVDprofiler creater) has is for DVDs. I'm fairly confident that he doesn't have any plans on creating any programs to encompass things like Books or CDs judging by how long the program has been out and how often it's been requested (a lot!).

The really cool thing is, DVDprofiler has so many local options for users that it can be used for just about anything. I for instance use it for my movies as well as games. The new version which is currently in beta form even goes beyond this and allows for "Custom Collections" which you can name whatever you want. Problem is, each profile has to be manually created, as there is no online sharable database to work off of. It's time consuming, but it's functional.

If you'd rather have a more specific program for CDs, check out Collectorz. I've never used it, but heard decent things. I believe there's another program for Books, but perhaps someone else can chime in and give you some advice there.

I actually use DVD Profiler for books. It has a cover option, under Crew I can enter the writer, the ISBN is my UPC. That's good enough for me.

That's pretty slick. You can even go as far to use the cast function as the characters.

As already mentioned, Collectorz has programmes for both.

A user just shared with me a stunningly creative custom database project. Out of respect for his privacy, I will wait to see if he makes a post here. I did give him the link. Suffice it to say, that if I wasn't convinced before, I am now convinced that, with a bit of ingenuity, you can in fact adapt this program to do some (other) amazng things.

(Edit: Yaay, he posted it! The report where the wine bottles are pictured sitting on shelves really blows my mind!)

I have begun using DVD Profiler (v3.5.1 b1252) to keep track of my wine cellar (~1,000 bottles).  I originally started with a wine application from www.intelliscanner.com to keep track of my wine.  I still use their program to keep track of my books, music and games.  Now my master wine database is kept in a very nice online application at www.cellartracker.com.  It is able to store just about everything I need to know about my wines.  The drawback to CellarTracker is that there is no ability to provide a nice customizable display or report format like we have in DVD Profiler.

Thanks to the BulkEdit plugin from mediadogg I was able to take my remapped data from CellarTracker and import it into DVD Profiler.  I use custom Genres to allow filtering by type of wine.  I'd like to use Cast/Crew to keep track of things like Drinking Window and Wine Ratings (help:looking for a good current cast/crew editor).  Discs allows me to track individual bottles with Rack and Bin location, individual UPC codes and bottle notes.  Overview, Notes and Easter Eggs provide a place to store a substantial amount of additional information.  With the HTML window capability I'm even able to link back to the cellartracker website from within DVD Profiler.
