So far we have:

Jan 21, 2010 - Rules change - Removed the restriction on submission of changed disc IDs. Submission no longer requires other changes in the contribution.

Jan 22, 2010 - System Change - The acceptance system now removes 'Credited As' entries from cast/crew which reflect only a case change.

Both are very welcomed from me! Can't wait to see more.

Two very sensible changes!

Thanks.

P.S. - Rick, you may want to correct the spelling of "discussion" in the title.  Sorry, it's the "school teacher" in me!

Agreed... I had to point out the second one to someone recently when Ken mentioned it in the Rules Committee forum.

Might be a good idea to get Ken to pin this thread?

I would like to see a rule update to mention the type of subtitles allowed to be selected. Should subtitles be ticked if they are burnt in or forced? The rules aren't clear on this at all and IMO a subtitle track is a subtitle track, whether it's burnt in, forced or only available via the subtitle button on your remote.

Could someone explain how this works. If Disc ID A is overwritten by Disc ID B, then if a user tries to add by Disc ID and they have Disc ID A, will the program locate this profile? If not, what advantage is it to contribute alternate Disc IDs? I know Ken has explained in the past that these are somehow stored. I just don't get it.

Yes, as I understand it, the program will locate the profile as long as the Disc ID has been submitted.  Only the most recent one shows, but they are all there.

That should be enough. I have not yet encountered what you describe, I presume that if the DiscID is in the system that it would recover it if I am reading my disc.

All I remember being said about it is that he wanted them and that they were stored for future development.

I personally would like to see it somehow not show as Changed  if that particular Disc ID is already stored in the database since at this point there is no way to be sure if he already has it.

I usually put both Disc IDs (new and one being replaced) in my notes but not everyone does this so it only helps a little.

Edit:
Thanks Martian

Examples:

Submission of a cast member:

Name: Bob Smith
Credited As: Bob Smyth

Result: No change

Submission of a cast member:
Name: Bob Smith
Credited As: Bob smith

Result: Credited As is stripped during the contribution.

If you contribute Danny DeVito [Danny Devito], the system will strip the Credited As of [Danny Devito] so that only the name Danny DeVito remains.

So if someone is credited in different casing we don't need to do a credited as in our submission?
