Tonight I watched Défense d'afficher (1896) aka Post No Bills, and although it's not made it onto my list, I did quite enjoy it (and it's the earliest comedy that I've enjoyed).

I've been checking back on my lists trying to put together a Top 20 for the decade 1900-1909 for a thread on Blu-ray.com. Although I don't necessarily agree 100% with my lists here on Invelos anymore, it is interesting to see the mild shifts in my taste over time. I'll probably reassess and do a new list at some stage. It has also reminded me how under-viewed some decades are for me (titles that I'm not particularly fond of making the list).

Does anyone else care to update their list, or do we have anyone wanting to present their favourite movies by decade for the first time?

I'd like to see a similar list based on Invelos' GENRE, although I've added to their list on my Profiler setup. Why - well when I want to see a movie it depends on the mode I'm in. What better way to pick a movie  than genre and rating..

I have about 2000 movies I haven't rated, so to pick out the best out of over 20,000 profiles???

To pick your best liked movie your list is almost like picking your favorite child.and it gets harder as the years pass, the availability of so many great movies.
Most are double dippers, I bought them on laser & DVD and some on Blu_ray.

1900 The Great Train Robbery (1903)
1910 Intolerance (1916)
1920 Safety Last! (1923)
Over the years I've watched anything and everything by Buster Keaton & Charles Chaplin over and over
1930 M (1931)
1940 Rebecca (1940) & How Green Was My Valley (1941) some how this movie always reminds me of my cildhood.
1950 Seven Samurai (1954) out of the '50s I could pick 20 or 30, but I'm a big fan of Akira Kurosawa
1960 Once Upon a Time in the West (1968)
1970 The Godfather I & II
1980 Das Boot (The Original Uncut Version)
1990 The Silence of the Lambs
2000 The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, J. R. R. Tolkien fan ownj the books, his notes, maps, etc.
2010 Prisoners (2013)

1950's School & Military - My favorite movie years, how do you pick, I saw more movies in the theater those years. I worked at a movie house, in my neighborhood as a bouncer.
And in the military I got to see a lot of free movies as I traveled in Germany from mountain top microwave site to site checking the equipment. The guys who manned the sites would go to the nearest base to pick up groceries, the mail and movies.
Yes, while I was in Germany I had to see the the latest sex kitten, Brigitte Bardot in ...and God created woman. It was in French, I didn't understand a word, but I liked what I saw!

12 Angry Men (1957)
The 400 Blows (1959)
All About Eve (1950)
Anatomy of a Murder (1959)
Ben-Hur (1959)
The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)
Diabolique (1955)
Dial M for Murder (1954)
High Noon (1952)
Ikiru (1952)
The Killing (1956)
La Strada (1954)
The Night of the Hunter (1955)
North by Northwest (1959)
On the Waterfront (1954)
Paths of Glory (1957)
Rashomon (1950)
Rear Window (1954)
Roman Holiday (1953)
Seven Samurai (1954)
The Seventh Seal (1957)
Singin' in the Rain (1952)
Some Like It Hot (1959)
Stalag 17 (1953)
Strangers on a Train (1951)
Sunset Blvd. (1950)
Touch of Evil (1958)
Vertigo (1958)
Wild Strawberries (1957)
Witness for the Prosecution (1957)
We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own.

My list:

1920: Metropolis
1930: Der blaue Engel
1940: The Third Man
1950: Es geschah am hellichten Tag
1960: Lawrence of Arabia
1970: Chinatown
1980: Das Boot
1990: The Shawshank Redemption
2000: Moon

It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
