I'm under the impression that we are voting for if the contributed data is correct or no. Can we vote "no" based on that someone else has already contributed same, or partly same data, which has not been approved yet? Does that make the "later" contribution against the rules? How can we be sure that the "first" contribution will be approved?

Sort of.

From the "Before You Contribute" section (bolding by me) -

Quote:
Read the prior Contribution Notes. They will give you information about contributions that other users have made. There are two specific things that you need to be particularly aware of:

    * Have other users verified discrepancies between the cover and the actual disc information? If so do not contribute the incorrect box information again.
    * Are there pending contributions from other users, which have yet to be evaluated by Invelos screeners? If so, you need to ensure that your contribution will not overwrite pending corrections with incorrect information again. Or are you duplicating the contribution that is pending, just contributing the same information again?

On that basis, the duplicate info can be considered as incorrect as it's unnecessary.

Besides the Rule, Kulju, how many Contributions do we need of the SAME data. I have seen as many as SIX duplicate profiles for a given title...the screeners shouldn't be abused like that, they ultimately are the ones that have their workload increased by such nonsense.

A few months ago I added new art crew (make up artists, visual effects etc.) for a profile. My contributions was pending when someone corrected an entry in the sound crew section (this was without the art crew additions of mine). First my contribution got accepted and released. When the second contribution got accepted and released all art crew was gone.

So from now on I vote no on crew/cast contribution that are done during the time another cast/crew contribution is pending.

If there are data overlaps, the standard proper vote is No, unless the contributer has been very specific in the notes, calling out the overlap, and all overlaps contain markedly superior data.

Thatnks for the reply Ken.

Speaking for myself, unless the second contribution is adding more data than the first, I will always vote no, with the notes, "If approved, this contribution will remove data being added by a pending contribution."

I have to admit, as many years I have contributed & voted I've managed to missed this one. You learn something new every day...

In whole I agree, but just out of conversation,

If first contribution adds fields
a,b,c
and second a & b, how does that remove anything?

Because at the time of the second contribution, a & b aren't in the database and at this time, the system only compares at the time of contribution. As a result, the second contribution will override the first.

Again I agree, you're correct, but I find it really hard to believe that the interface the screeners are using doesn't automatically eliminate/hide the same data. Even our client interface can do that.

Example:

First contribution fields a,b,c --> accepted. Second contribution: fields a,b with same information already accepted --> screeners doesn't even see this --> accepted, but no changes.

Maybe I'm just too used to use Profile Comparison Plus plugin

Are you serious that during the time screeners accept/decline the data contributed, the data isn't compared against the accepted data???

First contribution --> approved ---> second contribution --> compared against just approved data, not the data during the time of the second contribution?

Kulju:

I don't know how the intefrace is set up at the screeners end obviously, nor do i consider it particularly relevant. The last time Ken said anything the screeners were reviewing 30,000 Contributions per month. We know that Invelos is a small, closely held company, let's make a real wild guess and say that there are ten screeners, that would 100 per screener per day. That may not sound like much, but i get 100 titles per day to vote on and i get about 100 titles per day to review for update...trust me it's a workload a big one and i don't get paid for it.       Why do the screeners need that workload increased by duplicate Contributions.

I'm afraid so. I've seen it happen fairly recently.

The contribution comparison screen always uses the latest accepted profile, regardless of whether it is released.  This is true for the contributor, for the voters, and for the Invelos evaluator.

Ummm yeah, at least every week, sometimes every day. Right now we have FOUR Contributions for The princess and The frof and 2 of them I had to vote No on for duplication. I bet we get several more.

The above is not correct.  Submitters, screeners, and voters always see the latest accepted data.
