As people are finding out that there is no way to nest group dividers in movies... some people are trying to use Episode Dividers per Rules. One up for Vote now  is A.I.: Artificial Intellegence. I am not blaming the contributor as It is not said at this time how to handle this in the rules. But it has/is being discussed in the Rules Committee forum. But either way... using Episode Dividers for such things is against the rules as they are written now. As the rules say when to use episode dividers... none of which is for groups within a single movie.

As I said... this has been brought up in the rules committee forum. And Ken said he sees 2 ways of doing this..

This could be entered as tweeter has it.  Arguably, the inner heading is more important, and that's the one that would show in the credit info window.

Alternatively, this could be entered as "2015 - Video Waiters" , "2015 - Griff Gang", "2015" and "1985" for the dividers.

The other suggestion was basically still just use the group dividers as they are in the movie despite not nesting. I personally prefer how Ken suggested... and is what I have done so far when I came up to these.

But I wanted to put something here to let people know that this is a known problem and is being considered. But Episode Dividers for groups within a single movie is wrong.

As I know this is a new thing... and people don't know how to do it or vote on it. I thought I would bring Ken's suggestion to everyone.

I'll repeat my Contribution Rules forum message here that prompted Ken's reply in the opening message

==================================================

I'm trying to decide if there is a better way to do these dividers and this seems like the right place to hash it out.

Back to the Future 2. It has nested group credits as seen here:

My take on the credits is
1) The Years are Group Start dividers
2) Video Waiters and Griff Gang are Group Start dividers (nested)
3) I add the appropriate Group End divider for each Start

and i get this:

Ideally Wood through Ishida would be indented under 2015 like Birdsong is under 1985 and the nested groups would be pushed to a second level.  But that isn't what happens.

While this would be technically correct under v3.6, is it the best way to handle it?  Is there an option?

(All the dividers currently exist in the on-line profile)
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

While I personally prefer Ken's solution. I have no problem with this one either. I can be happy with either way. And I am thrilled if we can decide which of the 2 suggested ways we are to handle this and have everyone on the same page.

My main concern... and reason I brought this hear... is to be sure everyone knows we are not to use episode dividers for groups within a single movie.

I will note per Ken's clarification... he meant for all group roles use group dividers... including the roles done for...

Video Game Boys
and
Hoverboard Girls

Whether it be in format...

Video Game Boys
cast
cast

or

Video Game Boys  - Cast
                            Cast

he meant for both versions to be group dividers.

IMHO you should just add all the group names to 1 group divider. That is the only way to make it look good and correct on the cast view, when you view a specific actors list.

I just did a contribution that used both episode dividers and group dividers, and IMHO it works the best that way:

link

Its a 2 movie box set, where both movies are on the same disc. However that movies credits didn't have the need for double group dividers.

But i think "2015: Griff Gang" or "2015 - Griff Gang" would be the best. And its Hoverboard Girl, the typer was just lazy, it isnt grouped IMHO.

Looking at your image it looks like you did it correctly per Rules... Episode dividers to separate the individual movies... and group dividers per group.

but as for this statement... you have me confused...

Per Ken's clarification in the rules committee forum it is considered a group role. It don't matter if you believe the person just got lazy... it is one role for a group of people... so it is a group role.

BTW, Pete. It is possible after a form to nest Dividers, it's just a manual process

Take your example:

Divider 2015
Sub Divider add a couple of spaces to Video Waiters or whatever and poof

Skip
ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!!

That is a thought that could be considered as well... even though it won't indent the actual credits... it will indent the divider name itself.

Not a bad idea, but the problem credits (Elijah Wood through James Ishida) still wouldn't be indented.

They are the ones that should be indented but aren't.

The best solution, at least for me, would be to use Episode dividers or create an additional cast divider.  I don't like combining them, as it doesn't represent the credits.

As the rules are now... that would be against the rules. As it says for Distinct Movies, Episodes and stuff like that. Not for groups within a single movie. So I for one would vote against that.

This I know, what I wrote is what I would prefer.  Sorry for the confusion.
