Immediate Family: Joseph Campayno
My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it!

Good catch! And thanks for specifically pointing it out! I probably would've missed it otherwise!

Well, with spelling variants, a split credit for a season of The Cosby Show and apparently incorrectly spelled credits (would anyone expect anything else from a film like Blair Witch 2  ), we've arrived at a tie for the moment!

Hopefully the credit that Corne is going to verify later can break that tie. Unless it can be decided that maybe a credit like Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, where he's credited in the New York crew isn't necessarily unit crew, but is instead part of a movie with multiple principle crews?

We'll see what Corne can come up with though.

Great work on all the credits guys (especially finding and pointing out variants and spelling errors that I myself had missed when I started the thread!!!!  ), it's very much appreciated! I've run out of greens for the day because of the excellent work, but rest assured, after my 15 hour work day tomorrow (vomit...) when they've refreshed, I'll hit up everyone I missed with one!

I've had to edit my previous post like six times for spelling errors...  I'm sick, my apologies, my brain isn't functioning properly at the minute. Please ignore any obvious spelling and grammar mistakes... I'm sure it'll be much improved after I work 15 hours tomorrow while sick...

Well crap on a stick!

The tie remains.

Any ideas? Home Alone 2? Profile count? Wait for the next credit?

Thoughts?

I've looked for other credits, and it doesn't appear that he has any that would valid for the program.

I'll list some of the other credits that appear to be invalid for the program, maybe one of them actually will be valid?

The Forgotten
Coyote Ugly
One Tough Cop
CrissCross
Deceived (1991)
Mortal Thoughts

That appears to be all. I'll add 'em to the first post as well. Maybe we'll get lucky?

Whenever there's a tie in the number of titles, I use the number of profiles as a tiebreaker.

That's what I do as well.

There's only one thing that bugs me about it, maybe you have an idea about it.

All credits for all profiles aren't currently entered.

So even though right now Joseph A. Campayno comes out ahead due to number of profiles, what if when all was said and done, and every profile that should contain a credit for him does, a different variant (in this case Joe Campayno) ends up with more profiles?

That's the only thing that makes me hesitant.

I guess however, that's totally a "wait and see" type of game, and I'm not a fan of those.  Especially with this type of program where it could be years (if ever) where all profiles have the applicable credits. The common name now is the common name now deal?

You're absolutely right, of course. There is, however, not really another "easy way out", I'm afraid. We need something to act as a tiebreaker, and that something needs to be readily available, and needs to be interpreted the same way by you, by me and by everyone else. Given those constraints, something simple like "if the common name is tied between two name variants, then use the variant with the largest number of profiles" seems to fit the bill: we can all look up those numbers in ten seconds at any given time, and can all easily draw the same conclusion from them. Of course the balance may shift when more profiles are completed, but I would say that's something we'll have to live with. After all, theoretically everyone's common name can shift at some point, so this isn't all that different. Additionally, it's not like this scenario applies to thousands of names - in the grand scheme of things, a common name situation resulting in an actual tie is fairly rare.

You mean the REAL profile number or the FALSE CLT result?
Because the easy way is to use the CLT results where the number of profiles is often the sum of valid and invalid contributions, so we should extrapolate the real number of profiles using the results of this thread, not an easy and immediate way...

It is indeed, and that's why I just said:

If you want to go the (quite a few) extra mile(s) and iron things out even further, then by all means, be my guest. I'm all for accuracy. My guess, however, is that very few users are willing to go that far, which is why I suggested something a bit more readily-available. That's all: I was just trying to find a solution that'll work accross the board, rather than for, say, three "die-hards".
