Also credited sometimes as William or Bill Skinner
IMDB

I already had William Ladd Skinner as the common name, but then a contribution came up changing the common name to William Skinner.  So I have to be sure.

William Skinner: 3 confirmed
Alien Hunter (actor credit)
Cobra
Over The Top

William Ladd Skinner: 11 confirmed
Battleship
Brain Donors
K19: The Widowmaker
Leviathan
Mr. Brooks
Pearl Harbor
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Public Enemies (2009)
Transformers: Age of Extinction
TRON: Legacy

Wm Ladd Skinner: 11 confirmed
12 Monkeys
Alien Hunter (Production Designer)
The Bodyguard
Dances With Wolves
Idiocracy
Little Giants
Meet The Spartans
On Deadly Ground
The Peacemaker
Pontiac Moon
U-571

Wm. Ladd Skinner: 4 confirmed
Godzilla
Lock Up
Oscar
This Is The End

Bill Skinner: 4 confirmed
Eraser
I Am Legend
Las Vegas: Season One
Speed 2: Cruise Control
My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it!

It looks like the new common name is "William Ladd Skinner".  Because of the tie profile counts are the tie breaker

Wm Ladd Skinner and Wm. Ladd Skinner is really the same, this point does not change much. So it is 15 to 11 for Wm. Ladd Skinner as he is in the database now. Changing forward and backward messes up the database. I see this with over 6'000 films. In 1 or 2 films somebody changes it, in the rest not. I have him 20 times in my database with Wm. Ladd Skinner, one will change one film, the rest is never touched again and keeps to be wrong. I have not the time to change those and will also not do it. Perhaps people not having a job have the time for such games. Than the next film comes and somebody will again change it back, for what? Do you have nothing better to do?

Common names change, that is just the nature of them

But I am not sure we can consider Wm Ladd Skinner and Wm. Ladd Skinner as the same.  Personally I think the only time we can make that assumption is when the filter actually manipulates it to the same name and in this case it does not.  The filter making two variants the same common name shows a clear intent by Invelos.

Wm. has a period at the end of the first name and Wm doesn't have a period at the end of the first name. So, they are different.

There is no standardized names, calling it something new and different does not make it different.  The common name is what is placed in the main name fields of the cast and crew.  Many times being the same as the name credited.

As per the contribution rules - Certain name standardizations are performed during contribution. e.g. John Smith Jr becomes John Smith, Jr.

As you can read I didn't make up a new and different term. You have decided to changed standardization to mean common name.

In the common name field you may have common name, credited name or standardized name, all 3 have different meanings.

However if you look at my initial response I did not agree with considering Wm and Wm. the same just as you do so arguing that point in this thread is off topic for this thread.  There are other threads where it is on topic.  People monitoring those threads where is is on topic may not be monitoring this thread.  Add to that this thread does not need to be clogged up with issues that do not affect the common name for Mr. Skinner.

Wm. and Wm are 2 different credits, so should be treated as such. I see you would like to add them together the same as the group who wants to add standardized names because of the auto filter. The problem is the hypocrisy of the autofilter that will filter certain variants but ignores the same situation with (III & ,III) (Wm. & Wm) (PJ & P.J.).

I think this was the last movie with a valid credit for now. I've checked CLT for all name variants and all movies have been named allready, are invalid or credits for the sound guy.
