Welp just thought I would post up how its all set up atm. A few things may change but until I score a LED TV and or the Sony CX-960 or CX-7000ES ( I may also win the lotto    lol )

Camera lens is filthily as sin, Next up is to fix the speaker covering, raise the TV up about 8 Inches.

Once that is done, the Case Logic folders will go someplace else.

Anywho

Nice testament to the values of patience, planning and research.

I like the idea of always maximizing the use of whatever you have. As you add and change, your enjoyment continues to improve. No sense waiting to win the lottery to have fun! Good job!

Snagged the 4th 995, so with that I am done with player equipment.

BTW the market on the used 995's have been weird for the last month or so, they are going for way more then what I was paying when I started this little project.

The Sony BR players have come down quite a bit, the 960s are listed on Sony Style for $600 and the 7000es for 1500.

Looking at an inexpensive HTiB set up just to improve the sound stage a bit, not a priority right now, but I am keeping my eyes open for some deals on the Onkyo systems as I have been liking what I have been reading about them on the AVS forums and the br.com forums.

Seems like good news all around.

- I've been considering selling one of my CX995V and getting a CX7000ES. If if the 995V is going up and the 7000ES is coming down ... great!

- You can't beat my Onkyo deal on Amazon (Dealdogg), better snap it up! I got the Amazon promotional price on the TX-1008, which you can no longer get. And the TX-3008 is now being promoted. So I got a really good price on that one, in the hopes I can sell my virtually new TX-1008, for only a small loss.

@Rob,

Just noticed that TigerDirect has a sale on a sweet Onkyo - baby sister to my unit,
with (I think) all you need and more. Only thing is you would need a HDMI display. Seems to have pretty much all the features of mine at a very nice price point.
(Anticipating your next question - no, you can't use the Component output to view the HDMI inputs: the converse does work, however.)

great deal on the recently phased out HT-RC270 (Amazon and others also have similar price) - note that the hot deals are likely due to Onkyo replacing the RC270/260 with the new HT-RC370/360 - the main update appears to be the Marvell Odeo 4k vidieo upscaler:

http://www.nextgadgets.net/onkyo-ht-rc370-and-ht-rc360-home-theater-receivers/

"Onkyo has decided to release two new home theater receivers to replace the HT-RC270 and HT-RC260. The new Onkyo HT-RC370 and HT-RC360 home theater receivers come equipped with the new Marvell Qdeo 4K video upscaling processor, allowing users to upscale video to 1080p and beyond to as much as 4k of horizontal resolution, regardless of the source resolution. And then there will be the 470 and 460, etc. ...

Nice, it is book marked.

As an added bonus finally got into the Diag Menus on units 3 & 4 - #4 has a whopping 25 hours on the dvd laser and #3 250 hours ( not close to the " I only watch a few DVD's when my kid was home sick" the seller claimed but not bas bad at the 1050 and 500+ hours of #1 and #2.

So now its a waiting game on the Vizio tablet.....

Hey I just saw another deal in the paper this morning. J&R in NYC has a Denon AVR-891 for $399. Seems good. I used to work in NYC and have been to J&R many times, plus I have done mail order with them, and they are a good vendor. I just checked and Amazon has exactly the same price, source from J&R. (Amazon's caption is wrong, the unit has 105W/Channel, not 135W).

Looks good for an entry level receiver. I own the Onkyo TX-NR708 7.2 channel reciever. It has 7 HDMI inputs and 1 output. I like it because it has network functionality which the Denon AVR-891 lacks otherwise I would have gone with the Denon. I paid $590 for my Onkyo back in February and it's currently selling for $570.

Use Promotion Code MEMORIALDAY to save $15 (order of $150 or more).  I just carted it and the coupon applied the discount.

Cool, but $400 seems like a lot of money for a remote control device, even if it is a "touchpad"

Look at some of the higher end Harmony remotes, they are in that same price range and don't offer the same level of features.
