Just an FYI...there is no 'programming staff', there is just Ken.  That doesn't explain why you haven't recieved an answer of some kind, but it might explain why the issue hasn't been nailed down.

Yes, I've done DB restores, repairs, everything that has been suggested. I'll checkout the suggested plug-in too. I very much want the program to work for me so I can stop using Windows on my Mac. The portability of the data will be a huge time saver. I've wanted DVD Profiler on my iPad since the day the iPad was released. It just feels like a broken toy on Christmas morning right now.

What have you done to the iPhone/iPad so far?

Updated to the latest version?

Strong reboot? (Turning off by holding the Off button until the slider appears.)

Hard reset? (I believe this is done by holding Off and Home buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appeards. Make sure to backup before this...; except DVD Profiler, maybe.)

I remember that one of the earlier iOS versions created problems with my phone only few others seemed to have. It would crash a lot, basically rebooting itself. Once the next iOS version came out the problem disappeared.

Latest iOS version, latest DVD Profiler version, full power off reboot, full reinstall of iOS and apps, database restores, database repairs, everything else mentioned in this thread and others. Same results every time. This is why the issue is so maddening.

Perhaps your next best option would be to make a backup of your database, minus the cover images, and find some kind soul with the DVD Profiler app who would be willing to load your collection on their device to see if they have the same issues.  That would tell you if it's the data or a problem with your iDevice.

If no one else volunteers, I will.  But it would be Sunday at the earliest before I could get to it.  And with Sunday being Easter, it may take me even longer.
Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here.
Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection.

I feel your frustration and feel sorry none of the suggestion could bring you closer to a solution

I have been using DVDP for what seems to me to be eons, well, at least since well before Invelos acquired the original.  I bought it for the iPhone on the day it was released and now I have it on my new iPad 2 and I have never encountered one minute of difficulty or failure.  Perhaps I am just lucky, I don't know but maybe, just maybe it could be because I update windows religiously, I have no pirated or trial software installed, I use AVG and not Norton or Macafee as my security and Bit Torrent is banned in my house.  None of the forgoing is because I am purient, but rather through the experience of using each of them on past machines over the last 20 years or so and learning the hard way the pitfalls of each and the conflicts they can cause.  There are other programs that I avoid like the plague such as Real Player, but I'm not going to discuss that here.  I just wanted to point out that problems with DVDP are more likely to be caused by other software and the unseen, undesirable demands they make on our systems.

Try this - create a new database, add a few profiles, and sync that to the iOS device.

If that works, try a new database and only restore your backup to it selecting only the profiles, none of the extra information.  If that syncs, keep restoring and selecting one additional item until it craps out. If you get to that point, delete the DB and restore everything but the item that crapped out.  Depending on what crapped out, you can have an idea on what to focus on with the plug in or decide to ditch the data.

If this troubleshooting tip pans out, you'll be able to update Ken and maybe get a quicker resolution.

I have to say I agree with this quote, though its of absolutely no help to the poster with the troubles.  So far (knock wood) DVDProfiler for the PC and the iPhone hasn't given me any troubles at all and works flawlessly.  I'd really lookin into the person's PC to see if there's a problem there somewhere.. perhaps the port connecting the iOS to the PC etc?

Maskleouf, Ken plans another update for the app. Unfortunately time seems to move differently for him than for the rest of humanity. All we can do is wait and hope to be surprised by a new version soon.

As for your other questions, it would probably be better if you post them in the iOS Technical Support Forum. The short answer is, it shouldn't matter whether you create the database first on iOS or the desktop. However as far as I can tell only people who created the database first on iOS seem to have trouble with the app.

Hi !
After the creation of my support ticket, they told me to create the first version of my DB on my computer and only after, export it on my iOS... After this, i can add DVDs with my iphone and export them to the computer. That's the only solution i tried, and it works

iOS versions of DVDProfiler have never crashed for me (that's not an exaggeration), so I think you need to look at your setup. First thing I would do is run a database repair on your desktop install, then delete the iOS version from you device, reinstall, and resync with the desktop.
