I was just curious. I am not sure how well these work. But, if I was to purchase a USB barcode scanner for my computer, how well do they work with this program. Also for anyone that has a barcode scanner. Would all I have to do is plug the scanner into my USB port and it will automatically scan the barcode and insert it into the text field where the UPC is supposed to go? Would any barcode scanner work or are there only a few types that would? I have 1000+ movies to enter and it would be alot easier to do it with a scanner.

The progran is designed to load a text file of UPC's, so you could just start scannning them, one per line without worrying about how the scanner works in detail - that could come later. Then just submit the batch(es) of UPCs, in a file, as you see fit as part of the "DVD\Add To Collection" dialogue.
Thanks for your support.

Well as long as the scanner works as a "keyboard" there won't bee a problem.
(Don't know exactly, but I would assume that this is the case on most, if not all, USB-devices)

No, you would have to go to the dialog you want, e.g. DVD -> Add to Collection -> UPC or DVD -> Select by UPC.

As mediadogg already said: scanning them en bloc would be much more prudent then. Maybe 100 lines per file or so, that way you can pause as soon as your eyes start to glaze over.

as for USB barcode scanner, first you need to decide the types of the barcodes. i think upc-a barcode scanner may be what you are looking for. i have been using it for years. simple and powerful.

So if you need to scan different type of barcodes, lets say EAN 128, then you need to get another barcode scanner? That would be really costing. What I know is that those USB barcode scanners support not only one certain kind of barcode but at least 5.

Because it is not hard- but just software?

Anyhow, this is just about the most stupid variant of advertisement I've ever seen.
Advertising that it is not working just to get some more clicks on the site ...
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Yes, it did.

EDIT: And mine increased it to "1" as expected.

Definitely NOT with a Java scanner.

How about using the scanner you so kindly recommended in your earlier posting.
