The Locality list is not complete for Europe. I am from Slovakia and most of my DVDs are from Czech republic or Slovakia. How to contribute them? Shall I use another country or will there be an update of Locality list soon?

Ken could you please add a locality "other" with generic currency (USD?) and generic rating system to the system before people are more or less forced to contribute profiles to a borowed locality? Of course adding additional real localities like Czech Republic or Slovakia would be an additional benefit.

Adding localities is not difficult and does not require a program release.  All I need is the name of the locality and details of the ratings system used.

Ken, for future reference, check out this page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_picture_rating_system

It details the ratings system for several countries.

Unfortunately, it doesn't list the ratings for my number one need in locality: Thailand.  I have about 50 Thai films, so that locality and language are important for me.  India is #2.

So here it is, Ken:

Czech Republic

    * U - Suitable for all audiences
    * 12 - Suitable for viewers over 12
    * 15 - Suitable for viewers over 15 (there is an error in the wikipedia IMHO)
    * 18 - Suitable for viewers over 18

Slovakia

    * U - Suitable for all audiences
    * 12 - Suitable for viewers over 12
    * 15 - Suitable for viewers over 15
    * 18 - Suitable for viewers over 18

Thanks very much for the update so that I can start contributing. The same question about Currency - is it possible to add Czech koruna (CZK) and Slovak koruna (SKK) ?

Me too. I've been waiting for years to insert my Thai movies at my online database, as I don't want to use a fake locality.

synner_man, do any of your Thai DVDs have rating? Because I've been looking at mine, and they all have that official seal with the Ministry of Culture's stamp on it, with the movie registry number and all. But, no rating to be found anywhere on the seal or on the cover itself. Same in all of them, regardless of studio. Allied to that, I seem to be unable to find a rating system anywhere on the internet.
As far as I understood from my readings, the movie  goes up to the Censorship board, that cuts out the parts it doesn't like and then allows it to go the movie houses. For DVDs of foreign movies they can either be authorized or denied selling. If authorized they get the registry number and seal/stamp on the cover of each copy (to atest it's an original one), and the studio pays for each cover stamping.
But no ratings are spoken of at any time. It seems you either "can see it" or "you can't".

Adding to that, I've just consulted 4 Thai online stores, and in none of them are references to ratings in the movie pages...
With every passing hour our solar system comes forty-three thousand miles closer to globular cluster M13 in the constellation Hercules, and still there are some misfits who continue to insist that there is no such thing as progress.

Skywatcher,

I've never looked that close at them for ratings, since it's never been an option in DVD Profiler.  Looking at them now, I couldn't find a thing that resembled one.

A quick google and wikipedia search found nothing on the issue, so you might be right.  Well, that would make Ken's job a little easier toward implementing a Thai locality.

^^ At least they have a TV rating, maby its the same one?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Television_rating_system#Other_countries

Also from there, the reason why you probably dont see ratings (or rather dont know you see ):
"The main 4 (and 3 sub) rating signs (Thai characters) are now shown on screen before and during the duration of the program."

From: http://www.thaianxiety.com/cens06a.asp

"The Culture minister has invited 5,000 people from all walks of society to join a voluntary committee to rate television programmes on the Internet.

The ministry yesterday launched the Media Evaluation (ME) System Project, following a Cabinet resolution last October requiring it to develop, on a budget of Bt15 million, a ratings method for the media, including television, radio, films, the Internet and computer games."

Ken,

The rating system on Wiki is in error for the Korean movies and video. The list in Wiki is a TV rating system.  The voluntary rating system for movies and videos are set by Korea Media Rating Board. According to their official web site:

http://www.kmrb.or.kr/

Translated, they are

All - Equivalent to G
12
15
18
Restricted - Equivalent to NC-17 but not frankly pornographic.

Also there are soft core porn movies that sometimes have 19+ on them, but that is not an official rating, similar to how XXX is not an official MPAA rating in the USA.  Hardcorn porn is strictly illegal in Korea.

Thank you,
My Home Theater

Sounds easy Ken! Could you please add Hungary?

Ratings: 12, 16. 18.
All are symbols in a circle, but when it's for all, it's a green circle, so I'm not sure how you handle that. I guess just an "All" category would be fine.

Hungary belongs to Region 2.

Of course, if Hungarian could be also added in the list of countries of origin, that would be great!

Singapore:
Found the ratings here.
G - General
PG - Parental Guidance
NC16 - No Children below 16 years old
M18 - Mature 18 for persons 18 years and above
R21 - Restricted to persons 21 years and above

Taiwan:
I know this locality is already available, but I"d like to see the rating system revised:
G - General audiences category (General audiences may all view) -> currently correct in DVDP
P - Protected category (Children under 6 years old must not view) -> currently correct in DVDP
PG - Parental guidance category (Children under 12 years old must not view) -> currently correct in DVDP
R - Restricted category (People under 18 years old must not view) -> currently set to "Adult", which looks rather weird, wouldn't the MPAA's R be equivalent...?

There are also choices for "no age limit", which appears redundant, as that seems to be covered by "G" and "NR", which can be used for DVDs without rating logo.

So, if I understand this correctly, "G" must replace "no age limit", "P" must replace "G", "PG" must replace "P" and "R" must replace "PG". That way "Adult" could remain and be used for, well "Adult" titles...?

The requested localities have been added and the changes to existing ones made.  To access them, refresh the online list in DVD Profiler then restart the program.
