Looking at all the "what have you bought this week" movies that people are getting .. i was just wondering what is actually being watched and what you would consider a 4-4+ movie.

I have a hard time giving 4-4+ to movies unless they are outstanding ... so was just wondering what people are watching and what they think of them?

NOTE: by the way .. feel free to list any movie you are actually watching and let us know what you think about it.

I'll start it with this.  Just watched this after many many years of not see.  Sometimes they don't live up to the hype we give it in out heads but this is still a 4.5 for me.  Peter Sellers is brilliant.

Being There

Regions 1, 2, 3, 4

interesting post. you want movies that just have been seen from the "what have you bought this week" or just movies in general? Movies that have been bought for a while ago too, etc?

No, I any movie would be good.  Sometimes you grab out an old one you haven't seen for a long time and go WOW .. that was a movie.

That is what I was thinking.  Something that makes you go WOW .. and why.  For me it was Peter Seller's performance in 'Being There' .. the ability to play Chance Gardner 'straight' without over blowing the condition.  Simply brilliant.

Thanks

Why? Well, just a classic horror movie. And a perfect follow up, from the first Evil Dead.

Something like this, you were thinking about or?

This might not be a popular choice, but I just saw Hunger Games yesterday and it made me go, "Wow." I have been resisting reading the book/seeing the movie/having anything to do with the franchise for many reasons, including that it was a teen series that couldn't possibly be done well enough to match Stephen King's The Long Walk or any other book/series of the same type. It's too popular and that usually means it's made for the masses and not well done. I dislike Twilight and figured it would be on the same level.

I was wrong. I really enjoyed it. I found that it followed the book fairly closely with only a few changes. My emotions were pulled. I wasn't bored watching it. It was fast paced but went into a good amount of detail. I thought Woody Harrelson was made for his part-even without knowing that he was in the movie, he was basically who I pictured when I read his character in the book.

Go see it if you haven't! There's enough blood and fighting for everyone in it and very little true romance. The love interest plays a big part of the movie, but you are left wondering if it's a show or real or if it started off one way and then changed and if both characters are on the same page or if one thinks one thing and the other thinks another.

Would you say that i should read the book(s) before i watch the movie, or would you say that it
doesnt matter?

An American Werewolf In London

Region 1

Released: 9/15/2009

Anamorphic 1.85

I think this is a well done take on the Werewolf genre.  David Naughton and Alex Price performances were very good.  Like the filming and music like Van Morrison's "Astral Weeks" doesn't hurt the mood either.
It has a nice 'english' feel and although I haven't seen it for a long time it still comes off very well.
I give this one a 3+

Alot of good movies there Lewis! But i just have to say. When it comes to "Shutter Island" i heard so much great about the movie. But it didnt do it for me personally. Dont get me wrong, Leo did a great part. Oscar worthy imo. But when the movie ended, i was more confused then. I didnt "get" it.

That is perfect for this thread.  Not just looking for a list of what you have .. but looking to see what is being watched.  And what you thought of it.

I liked "J Edgar".  Think Leonardo did a great job as usual

I just gotta say that the most movie Leo does. He does a great job. He's one of the best out there. So why havent he won any Oscars yet? Beyond me.
