I'm wondering, if there is a possibility to amend names in the online database.

There are two problems which can't be addressed by CLT and common names:
• Capitalization
• First/Middle/Last vs. First//Last Last name (often last and maiden name)

With the latest updates the following three popped up:
John "DJ" DesJardin (he writes his last name with an upper case J -> LinkedIn)
Dino DiMuro (writes his last name with an upper case M -> Twitter)
Harriet//Sansom Harris (Sansom is her mother's maiden surname -> IMDB Trivia)

Capitalization is a local option by design. You can set the capitalization of a cast member once locally, and no profile update will ever change it.

I know. But it would be nice, if the online database could reflect the reality. Otherwise I - and every other user, who takes care of such negligible details - has to recheck the names after every update.

At least I - for one - can't remember all the names, which I already researched. And, since there is no field for local notes either, I have to recheck theese spelling issues over and over again...

Changed your mind ? This is what you explained to me in the "List of common name" thread:

Your opinion is clear - was it long ago. Thanks for recontributing it.

But please keep in mind, that there is no such thing as a correct name.

Maybe you didn't read the topic. I clarified the headline for you.

You clarified nothing. You changed the topic to avoid to answer me. And your new headline doesn't fit with your question about  First/Middle/Last vs. First//Last Last name (often last and maiden name).

The problem is always the same : use correct name (including all aspects : spelling, capitalization, parsing), or use fake names ...

I am confused.  Why would you have to recheck the names after every update?  Ken said you "can set the capitalization of a cast member once locally, and no profile update will ever change it."

If no profile update will ever change it, there should be no need to go back and recheck it...or am I missing something?

Again, I must be missing something here because I use the notes field all the time to record if/when I did an audit of the cast list.

That would be nice indeed, but, it is You who wants to add Dozens of Uncredited German Post-Post-Production Voice Dubs to Cast, you hypocrite.

I can't trust in my database, because there were years, when I didn't really maintain it. Out of this I try to improve it bit by bit as new updates are coming and/or made by myself out of my current work here. Therefore I check name differences on download. Since there are more names around than I can possibly check, I can't get a trusted local database and further on I'll have to check the names, which pop up (I don't know how to call them without being abused for other agendas), every time they come along - until I am able to remember the differecies by heart...

For wrong profiles, there is a mechanism, how screeners can be requested to delete them. The intent of this question was to find out, how to handle name problems which are burried in the online database. Now - from my point of view - it moves over to a suggestion to establish such a process.

Notes are usefull for profiles, but totally useless for other structures like persons, studios, etc.

And for all who like to misinterpret: This post/thread is not about doubting the current rule set or name finding process!
