So, "Play All"... If a TV box set (remember: disc-level child profiles for TV sets are optional) has "Play All" on some discs, but not on all of them, do we still check the box? And no matter what the answer is, can it be put into the contribution rules immediately?

Do you have examples? Are you talking about a situation where some discs only have one episode? Whole series collections that collect discs produced at different times?

If a special-features disc has play-all on a group of featurettes, does that count? (Assume the disc gets its own profile for whatever reason).

In my experience at least....whenever there was a play all on one disc in the set... it was on all of them.

While it is hard to say anything for sure...until rules are written for the field... I would say you do like you would any feature... on TV series if it is on even one disc it would also go in the parent.  For example look at trailers... they are usually only on one disc but it gets put on the disc profile as well as the parent profile. Same for when there is only 1 featurette... 1 commentary... what have you. The parent profile would be anything that is available anywhere in the set.

Exactly that, yeah. I've already encountered a five-season box set, where only the fifth season-discs have "play all", but the other four seasons don't. Do we still check it, even though it doesn't apply to 80% of the discs in such a set?

That popped in my mind as well. It's easy to say "yes" to that, but what if that "play all" button only plays the group of featurettes, but not any other features on that disc? If it's a special features-disc only, then all special features together form the disc's "main content". What if clicking "play all" doesn't actually play all of the content, but only a specific section of it (like: a group of featurettes)? Then it's no longer "play all". Again, these things really needed to be hammered out before enabling contributions...

I really think we should have a provision for creating season-level profiles using alternate disc IDs. It would solve a lot of this sort of problem and help organization.

That and other suggestions was made at the time... but Ken decided to go with a stricter rule then any of us was asking for. No idea why but I take it he had his reasons.
