Yep, this is definitely going to destroy the English language.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.
- Citizen G'Kar

For titles in the English language, the Capitalization Tool in the contribution rules (on this page) gives you the answer.

But the title is Ride with the Devil on Blu-ray.com.

I just farted and that had more substance than your "contributions" to this forum.

I stopped worrying about things like that since the introduction of profile locks.

I have all my titles locked, but I'll still vote no to stupidity.

What does the cover say?

Thankfully, that doesn't matter. For titles in the English language, the Capitalization Tool in the contribution rules (on this page) gives you the answer.

But the production studio (Universal) and the distributor (Criterion) disagree.  Both list the title as "Ride with the Devil".

It doesn't matter what the studio or the distributor list it as.  The rule is 100% clear on this point.  For contribution purposes, we use what is generated by the capitalization tool.

I'm not arguing that the rule isn't clear, but that rule is based on the Associate Press style which likes to capitalize prepositions with four or more letters.  The MLA and Chicago styles don't capitalize these words.

But the title is Ride with the Devil on Wikipedia.

Then I highly recommend you spend your online time on Wikipedia and IMDB and stop wasting it here.  You'll be a much happier person.

That would be a blatant abuse of the voting privilege. It's perfectly fine to disagree with a certain rule - I personally disagree with a *lot* of them - but it's decidedly not fine to use the voting system to voice that disapproval. So I'll point that out whenever I see it, and I would hope that Invelos deals with that in an appropriate manner.

Yes, as a bad example. What capitalization standard are you using?

For the online database it is capitalized. In my local it isn't since it is simply bad form. Have no idea where AP came up with a rule that all words over three letters should be capitalized (it should be over four letters), but that's the standard Ken adopted, even if it is wrong.

That's fine. My no votes are not personal at anyone, but I can't bring myself to vote yes, or even neutral on something which is inherently wrong.

If you cannot stop yourself from voting altogether then you have control issues.

It gives one much more peace of mind when one gives up worrying about whether the online database is "right" or "wrong".

Different style guides have different views of four-letter prepositions. Invelos picked one and is just sticking with it.
