Hi!

Hoping someone might have a moment to help with this one.
I'm new here, and I looked around , but it was difficult to find the answer to my question.
I have a number of movies that are found in IMDB, but are not found in a wide search on DVD Profiler.
Is there a way to hook into and fill in the data from IMDB into the Profiler?

Thanks for the help!
Jeff

Hi,

the thing you need to understand is that DVD Profiler profiles DVDs (and Blu-rays, ...) but not movies.

So a movie will only find its way into DVDP if it is sold on a plastic disc.

If you have such a disc, you can use the UPC / EAN to add the disc to the DVDP database using the "Add by UPC" dialog.

If you just wish to keep track of your watched movies or digital purchases, then switch to the "Add by Title" dialog and then uncheck "Download from Invelos" at the bottom of the dialog.

Then you can use tools such as Cast/Crew Edit 2 to fill up cast and crew data.

Note: Cast/Crew Edit 2 is never to be used to contribute a UPC / EAN title to the online database! Data mining for commercial purposes is forbidden by IMDb and contributing IMDb data to DVDP is forbidden by Invelos.

In addition to what DJ Doena said: you can use imported IMDb data as starting point for creating Cast and Crew data that meet the requirements of the Invelos Contribution Rules.

If you want to contribute data which are not yet in the database, make sure you follow the Contribution Rules and for cast/crew credits: make sure you verify your data against the actual movie credits and modify your data to match those credits. You are required to list the source of your data in your contribution notes when you submit new data.

P.S.
You might search the Invelos database for the title(s) your looking for in other localities than your default locality (or even in all localities at once), if you haven't done so already.
