On starting up DVD profiler on the latest Windows 10 preview build 17025 I get an error:  Access violation at address 00BD30CA in module dvdpro.exe  Read of address 00000008.

then when I hit ok I get the next error message "invalid imagelist".  I get that I am on a preview build of Windows 10 but I never had any issues with any version of Windows and DVD profiler.

I uninstalled and reinstalled but still get the same error.

thanks!

Go to your directory where Profiler is installed, and manually open DVDProDBRepair.exe. Run the full repair and see if that fixes the problem.

Attempted Resolutions:
(... all failed)

1. Ran DVDProDBRepair.exe
2. Installed DVDProfiler without Uninstall
3. Uninstalled DVD Profiler without Clearing Data and Reports
4. Installed DVDProfiler
5. Uninstalled DVD Profiler thoroughly wiping out DVDProfiler Directory, c:\programfiles... and Registry
6. Installed DVD Profiler
7. Reset Windows10. Reinstalled OS wiping out everything
Installed DVD Profiler.

I am still getting the same "Access Violation Error."

Also, while opening DVDProfiler after everything was wiped out, tried Open Profiler, Open Backup and it made no difference. Same error. Of course in those cases there is no database to repair, since the program does not go to that point yet.

Please let me know if there is anything I can try on my end to help you resolve this problem.

Hold down Ctrl when you start Profiler and select Diagnostic Startup, and see if that works.

I recall two old fixes to strange issues:

(1) Run as administrator
(2) There was some sort of missing font that happens sometimes. Try a forum search.

You have done everything else I would have recommended. Those two items I just mentioned have come up from time to time as fixes to unexplained errors.
Thanks for your support.

My Windows recently updated to the same version of preview build as mocavo67.

As-per his experience, none of the following "tricks" seem to work.
Run as Administrator
Run in Windows 8 compatibility mode
Holding CTRL
Holding ALT
Database Repair

I'm still on Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.15063]

I will report on what happens when I get upgraded (at the moment Windows Update reports to being up2date)

Tried Run as Administrator
Tried Compatibility Mode Windows 8
Tried CTRL-DVDProfiler.exe
Tried ALT-DVDProfiler.exe

Something also kicked in the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter
Tried all options there
Issues Found
Incompatible Program... Not Fixed

In the end nothing fixed the problem.

The only thing I have not tried is check what the missing font could be from the above suggestions. I still don't know how to map and check fonts library. Also, reinstalling would have fixed any missing fonts, unless Microsoft deleted something from sourcecode, which is beyond my scope.

The missing font could be Tahoma TrueType - it seems DVDProfiler needs this. Check whether you have  Tahoma.ttf installed.

Re-installing will not fix the font, if that is the issue. Tahoma is a Windows font.

Invleos Knowledge Base entry:

Floating Point Error, or missing text on buttons.
You're experiencing either a floating point error at program startup, AND/OR missing text on some or all of the buttons in DVD Profiler.
Answer:

This is usually caused by a missing or corrupted Tahoma font. The Tahoma font is a standard Windows font that is installed by default on all versions of Windows from 95 and up.

You can download the tahoma font here. Download and open the file to install it. Alternatively, open the Fonts section of the Windows Control Panel and install it via that interface.

This error can also be caused by a corrupted online profile list file. To correct this, from DVD Profiler's main menu, select Online->Refresh Online Profile List while holding CTRL.

Sorry I did not wait for dee1959jay and greyghost postings today.

By "reinstalling" I meant reinstalling the Windows 10 Operating System. Not the DVDProfiler. Not just the DVDProfiler.

So, I (still) presume Reset/ReInstall of Windows10, which I had already done 4 times with different variations allowed by Windows 10 Build 17025, the Tahoma Font issue should have been fixed. Too late for me to check.

Last night I decided to give up on Windows 10 Build 17025 and reverted to Windows 10 v1709. It took a very long time to revert to the public release from Windows 10 Redstone 4. I run this $1000 Win10 Laptop merely for the sake of DVDProfiler. We've enough MacOS and iOS littered around the house to fill up the NSA databases of all our nefarious activities when we're not watching dvd-bluray movies all the time when we're awake. It was fun to tinker with Windows Preview Builds but not at at the terminal fatality of one and only functionality – DVDProfiler.

Note to Invelos Developers:

Windows 10 Redstone 4 has introduced Fluent Design. I presume it may have something to do with that UI change that I got this thread going. Perhaps, someone else running Windows 10 Redstone 4 Build 17025 could check if it was a mere font issue, which I doubt, but too late for me to confirm. As always, too early to say whether Invelos or Microsoft needs to fix the problem. But it sure is a serious bug around the corner.

Over and Out.

Didn't work (TTF).  I'll wait for the next MS update; might solve the problem...

Thanks

Try uninstalling the Windows Build 17025 "update" and see if that helps. I had a problem with a Windows 10 update about 6 months ago, did that and the problem was solved.
