Its clear that i do not properly set up a multi disc collection. For example if I have a "season" release of something that contains 4 different disc's that make up that season.

Currently i log each disk separately, each with its own distinct collection number. It seems more correct to me to have a collection number for the 'set', then each individual disc would be the same number perhaps with a separate sub id added. like collection #252 contains #'s 252-a, 252-b, 251-c and so on.

I have played with several 'attempts', but not sure what the 'real' way to do it is, I'd like to update the collection correctly....

Thanks.....

On any given profile you can select DVD / Personalize and next to Collection Number tick the box for None. Click OK and you're done.

There may be ways to do this in bulk rather than one by one - perhaps fellow users can tell you more about those.

You cannot have that exactly. A profile either has a collection number or none. But have you thought about creating a BoxSet?

It does exactly what you describe: you make the #252 profile a "parent" by assigning 252-a, 252-b, 251-c and so on, as its child profiles, using BoxSet Contents:

In Tools / Options / Display there is a tick box where you can set how you want box sets displayed.

Moreover, when you add a box set to your collection, the program will ask you whether or not you want to accept child profiles. It works in such a way that there is a "parent profile" for the set as a whole and then "child profiles" for the individual movies or discs within that set.

Thanks dee1959jay..... The Box Set option is working fine. Now, do i go back and fix them all, causing a lot of renumbering in the sleeves, or just apply to new items.......
The anal part of me insists yes, the practical side says no......
damn......

You can control the adding child profile behavior in Tools / Options / Defaults - bottom right: Check for child profiles during add. There may be an option to set Collection Number to None by default somewhere, but I don't see it right now. If there isn't one, you have to remember to set Collection Number to None in the Personalize DVD section while adding new child profiles, and then you're fine.

OK, made sure that was checked. Looked around, but did not see the collection number option, but i'll just make a note to be sure it is set to none on the children.....
