The last couple of months profiler has been acting up.

While adding a DVD occasionally, the program just locks up. I then have to cntr/alt/delete to stop it.
When restarting, it opens, with fields not showing any data, and it is frozen. Again, cntr/alt/delete to stop.
This time when it starts, it opens again with no data, but, asks if I want to repair. After repairing, it opens and runs ok for a while. Then all over again.
Anyone else seeing this?

I would suspect that it might be a corrupt profile (or possibly cover scan) that the database repair fails to fix.
I would create a new, empty database and try the following, in this order:
a) Restore a recent backup.
b) Restore a backup from before the problem started.
c) Download from the online collection.

Downloading the online restores almost everything, except custom cover scans. If you have a lot of personally scanned covers, this may not be  an ideal solution.

I realize that with a collection of your size, creating a new parallel database will be both slow and disc consuming, but it's probably the best solution. Of course, you could throw caution to the wind and delete your current database before doing any of the above. However do not just overwrite the current database.

Good luck!

My database is crashing dozens of times each night.  The PC doesn't "lock" but things that I have just may or may not be in the database after a program crash.  I send in the screen shot and error messages that show up but as of yet I have heard nothing.  The one crash I found most interesting was a comment that I was out of memory.  It isn't my RAM, Hard Drive space or processor.  I have checked them repeatedly to see if there is anything to stop this annoying problem.  Problems started end of 2018 when I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on another system.  I installed the program that was most current (I am a registered user) and loaded my backup database.  Things worked well for about a month then these multi crashes started to appear and is progressively getting worse.  I have had about 15 tonight in the few hours I have used the program.  Yes I did submit most of the crashes back to the developer as I have for the past few weeks.  I love the program and hope we can get rid of these crashes.
Some of the actions taken so far:
* Rebooted system (after all it is windows)
* Database repairs
* Used utilities in tools to clean up the database
* Switched to Windows 7 emulation in Windows 10
* Run dvd program as administrator.
Is there a way to start the dvd program in "safemode"  I thought I found this before but I can't seem to find the process now that I need it.
Thanks!

Yes, I think you hold down Ctrl key or something like that. Search for it. That eliminates loading of all plugins - not sure what else.

I have searched help in the program and found nothing on safe mode start.  I will see if there is something in the on line knowledge base.
Ctrl key did give a diagnostic type menu with an option to not load add-ins.  I will try the options available and see if anything helps.

I will be back in a few days to report if I had any luck.

Thanks!

I am back sooner then a few days.  Loading DVD Profiler with out add in's (safe mode) did not help.  I had about 12 crashes in 45 minutes.

My DVD collection has close to 2100 total DVD's according to DVD Profiler.  Am I hitting a limit issue for the database?

Does anyone else have any ideas or having similar issues?

Definitely not. I have about 8000 profiles, and I know that several users have over 10000.

I would try uninstalling and re-installing DVD Profiler (taking a backup first).
If that doesn't help I would look for disk or memory problems.

It might be too late to do this kind of analysis, but this type of problem is often caused by a corrupt .dll, virus, malware or incompatible software. So, here are some more options to try if the problem is not fixed by Gunnar's suggestion:

(1) Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

(2) Try your best to figure the exact time frame that the problem started and correlate with ANY new software installation or system update. This will be a very good glue. If you have a series of system backups or restore points, you might be able to recover that way.

(3) Of course, run your choice of Virus scanning or anti-malware tools
