Nice to read that many users are still active and use DVD profiler regularly. Also that users are looking for alternatives. It would be a shame to see the community bleed dry.

An official statement from Ken or business partner would be greatly appreciated, so that we as users know where we stand and what we may still expect. Does anyone know how to reach him?

Whether the answer is, that DVD Profier will be further developed or that all work will be stopped, maybe one possibility is that at least the database with countless hours of work can be secured for the future.

I don't really use DVDP to track my collection & viewing history any longer since I put everything in Plex and it does that now but I still come here frequently to downvote spam and hoping for some closure wither it be a post from Ken or Gerri or the site is gone.

Plex is simple.  The hard part (I should say, time consuming part) is ripping your discs.

My issue is a bit different  than all this .. What I like to do  is what movie I currently watch.. I need to and will put this info  in my 'history'  the watched issue of said date and title ..
so  if a movie I would like to watch with my Mrs....  she;'ll say haven't we  seen that already?  and I'll check the the history in my dvd  profiler and see that 'yes we did watch that movie''  ... 12 years ago..''!  .. then it turns out that most of the movie we couldn't remember the ending etc etc ..

So with all that being said .. I find that with 99 per cent of the movies I watch these days are in the streaming format..,  Whether its on the Disneyplus ,, Netflix  ,  Prime ,, Apple+  or  the new Star format and of course the Starz platform ,,  as well as my regular cable channels  ..
If I come across in my channel surfing ,,  i.e.  Happy Gilmore,,  and end up watching the the last 75%  of it i will mark it in my data -the date I did watch this  and on what streaming platform  in the comments section of watched history with my dvd Profiler ..

So  what is my complaint?  I find that some if not all of the new films or series I watch will never see the light of day to DVD or blue Ray.. take the newest  Coming 2 America.,, or say Kevin Costner Yellowstone . sure we all watched it on Prime .. but I need to somehow mark this as a watched title in my data  with the title being in my wish list.. so I can at least attach a date to this .. only way to do this is make up a fictitious card from Add to Collection this  title,, which I don't like to do  unless it really is coming to DVD  in the coming months.. maybe it will ...

It's not fictitious, it's just local.  I have lots of local profiles of films that aren't in the database and aren't on disc.  If you want to track your viewing history of titles not on disc that's just the way it's going to be.

Rather than start a new thread, seems appropriate here, if DVD Profiler did go away, what does one need to keep the program and just enter titles locally (knowing I will have to fill in all the info)?

Aside from the obvious stuff that depends on the Online and the web site, there might be subtle interactions with things we depend on, but don't think about, such as the Localities file, which has the mappings to country Ratings systems. Good news for that particular file, is that is just plain text XML.
Thanks for your support.

CubbyUps used to use DVDProfiler without an internet connection. Maybe you can ask him via PM to respond to this question. I thing experiences on this topic could be interesting for all of us...
