Royal Tenenbaum (Gene Hackman) and his wife Etheline (Anjelica Huston) had three children—Chas, Margot, and Richie—and then they separated. Chas (Ben Stiller) started buying real estate in his early teens and seemed to have an almost preternatural understanding of international finance. Margot (Gwyneth Paltrow) was a playwright and received a Braverman Grant of $50,000 in the ninth grade. Richie (Luke Wilson) was a junior champion tennis player and won the U.S. Nationals three years in a row. Virtually all memory of the brilliance of the young Tenenbaums was subsequently erased by two decades of betrayal, failure and disaster. The Criterion Collection is proud to present Wes Anderson's hilarious, touching, and brilliantly stylized study of melancholy and redemption.

Easter Eggs
Insert the second disc of the set and on the Main Menu press the 'Up' arrow key on your remote control to highlight the 'Criterion Collection' logo. If you press 'Enter' now you will be treated to an introduction to the movie by Ben Stiller.

Also on the second disc, select the 'Murals' menu entry and then highlight the entry called 'Storyboards.' Then press the 'Down' arrow key and the Dalmatian mouse on the floor will be highlighted. If you press 'Enter' now you will get to see some behind-the-scenes footage of Bill Murray elaborating on mice and snakes.

From the same menu arrow right from the mouse to highlight the picture of the guy with the sword and click 'enter'. This gets you a little video bit of successful plate spinning.

Again from the same menu arrow up to the picture on the top left of Fire and click 'enter'. This gets you a GREAT outtake from the early birthday party where Angelica Huston tries to blow out birthday candles and catches her hair on fire.
