| Posted: | | | | At the moment it's not exactly clear when we should use the voice checkbox. The rules do only state: "For animated films, use the "Voice" checkbox.". I like to know how the forums community think about this matter. Personally I think the "(voice)" suffix should not be appended if roles give us a clear indication when they are vocal only like "Additional Voices", "Narrator" or "Voice of ...", but there are also users out here who say to also use it in these cases because "the voice-only flag is used by the plugin interface and is also exported to XML". | | | Martin Zuidervliet

| Posted: | | | | My thoughts are that the voice checkbox should be used when only the voice of the actor is heard but they are never seen. |

So are you in favor of this:John Doe ... Narrator (voice) Trina Poe ... Teddy (voice) Pete Flow ... Additional Voices (voice) Choose "Every voice role"But are you in favor of this:John Doe ... | Posted: | | | | I voted for always too. As Chris says, keep it simple and consistent. Even if the role is "Voice of..." I would still tick the voice checkbox. |

| Posted: | | | | It's even simplerer to not check the box at all, but that's not the issue here. And consistancy depends on the number of people who agree on using the "(voice)" suffix when it's not necessary. My personal objection in this matter is that I think it looks rediculos and redundant. Now if the "(voice)" text would be replaced by a microphone icon I would not have any objection of using it. | | | Martin Zuidervliet

Because that would also hide the unclear voice only roles I would want to see. In fact there isn't any "legal" way of using the "Voice" checkbox, as stated in the rules, because the checkbox is called "Voice Only". So the only correct answer to this poll is "Never". | | | Martin Zuidervliet

You're advocating to move away from entering the role names "as credited"? So an on-screen credit of "The Voice of Bob" should be entered as "Bob (voice)"? I feel this is a slippery slope, especially since these voice credits can come in all sorts of shapes and forms... |

| Posted: | | | | It would be okay to use "The Voice of Bob" and tick the Voice Box (resulting in The Voice of Bob (voice)).
But if the on screen credit were Bob (voice) it seem to me that you could easily drop (voice) from the role and let the checked Voice Box cover it. So instead of Bob (voice)(voice) the result would be Bob (voice). | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges.
