| Posted: | | | | Hi all
I have been using DP for several years now but a few months back it stopped downloading images.
Is this a bug or a move by the company to cripple previous versions to try and encourage people to get version 3.0 and pay for it ?
TIA

| Posted: | | | | Hmm I have a sense of deja vu. Anyway the answer is that, new profiles /updates are no longer being submitted to the old database, so you won't get cover scans for profiles that didn't have them at the time the database was closed. If they are existing profiles with existing cover scans it's a bug as I can download them with no problem. If you have Win 2000 or above as an operating system you should really upgrade to version 3 of Profiler (download link at the top of the page). If you have a current premium reg with the old version you can get the fully working version of 3 at no extra cost. (See the technical forum pinned thread on how to upgrade before doing anything). If you don't have a premium reg you will find the program restricted if you own more than 50 dvds. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | thanks to the European members for a more civilised reply. Apologies if this has already been asked - I got to pages 12/13 in a couple of forums and didn't see the question. Zwollenaar - it is free but "crippled" to an extent that , IN MY HUMBLE OPINION, makes it unusable for a collection of any size. Thanks to you and Lithurge for your replies - much appreciated |

On the crippled front, yes in comparison to 2.4 and before, but you can at least play around with less than 50 dvds and it really is worth the $30. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | What , in your opinion -if I may ask, makes it worth the £20/$30 ?
I guess I could download it, have a play, and if I don't feel it's worth the registration carry on using 2.4
Anyone know how it compares on drain on system resources compared to version 2.4 ?
thanks again

| Posted: | | | | You can download the 3.x for free and simply try it out - before buying it.
But be aware that several functions are disabled if you enter/restore more than 50 DVDs into the free trial version.
And btw: The current dollar "weakness" makes it cheaper. Only 22€/15£. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Ooooh I see a pattern developing: European posters - answer the question, helpful and polite US Posters aggressive and unhelpful - there's really no need - it takes no more effort to be civilised like the others have been. Thanks again to all those that have answered my questions greatly appreciated |

Not aggressive or unhelpful at all, I found your initial post to be followed by your others to be whining and insulting to the people who have developed this program. Perhaps had I seen only your first post i would have said upgrade to 3.x as several others have done. The attitude that you get is merely a reflection of your perceived attitude, which BTW is quite common place among the freebers, they don't want to pay but they want EVERYTHING.
Upgrade you won't regret it. The program moves on.

| Posted: | | | | @stefank60: Not all U.S.ies, only Skip. If you want I quiet life in these forums, simply ignore all postings on which you see Walt Disney.
@Skip: No need to answer my post, I won't read it. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Thanks DJ You're quite right too - I shouldn't judge all on the 1st two US members I encounter - I think I shall follow your lead and ignore any posts made by the Disney man. btw is there not a function on this forum, like there is on many forums, that one can put a poster on ignore so you don't even see their posts ? Thanks again |

| Posted: | | | | To try and answer some of your other questions. Yes, if you don't like version 3, you can go back to version 2.4. You can even have them installled at the same time, they don't conflict with each other. However, as the other users have said, the database for 2.4 is no longer being updated, so any new DVDs you add will have to added manually. Also, if you weren't aware, if you paid for version 2.4 you can upgrade to version 3 for free. Also, you no longer need a key to use version 3 for free, so don't go looking for one. And as you've already found, some of our fellow users on here are a lot more "sensitive" than others. Whether that's anything to do with their US origins, I couldn't possibly comment. |
