Probably the most common complaint on these forums is the lack of continued development of DVD Profiler by Invelos (i.e. Ken). And I agree with that. But ...

There is a lot of development going on by a few enthusiasts. The most important development right now is HTTPJolie by mediadogg. This plugin opens up a whole world of possibilities.

For me, it means that my programs can now communicate much better with DVD Profiler. So far I have adapted two of my programs to use HTTPJolie (if installed), and I have released one program that is dependent on HTTPJolie. I have seven more programs waiting to be upgraded.

So, how come only a couple of users have downloaded HTTPJolie? Come on people, get with it! Download and install HTTPJolie! It costs nothing, and if you don't want to communicate with HTTPJolie yourselves via a browser, you don't have to run Profiler/HTTPJolie as administrator. In normal mode, other programs can still communicate with DVD Profiler through HTTPJolie.

Show mediadogg (and the rest of us enthusiasts) that you care about new developments, even if it's not done by Ken. If you give up on us, then we will give up on DVD Profiler, and then it will truly be dying. And that would be a crying shame.

I have an immense respect for the efforts of mediaddog, who, along with you and DJDoena, keep improving the program and breathing life in there forums. Many, many thanks to you all!

However, I did not download HTTPJolie. A few years ago, I remove all pluggins to improve the performance of DVD Profiler on my modest 4400 profiles database. With pluggins installed, it took minutes (!) to load, behaved sluggishly, crashed often and demanded a database repair almost every time upon loading. Without pluggins, the program loads in 10 seconds, experiences no unexplained crashes and never requests a database repair (to be fair, I do a full database check before backups, once a week). In contrast, I often use your tools, which run independently from Profiler on an XML database export. Communication between those tools and Profiler with HTTPJolie might be better, but it is already quite fine using double clicking or flags.

You shouldn't dismiss all plugins because you had a bad experience with one. Give it a try. If you have a problem with it, uninstall it.

I did see the post about it, but didn't have much time to read it at the time. But in the time I had, I couldn't really figure out what it did, and so I forgot about it...

What exactly does it do? Is it "just" a http cache, or..?

For me, the most important feature is that it allows my tools to control DVD Profiler in a much better, faster and safer way than sending keystrokes. And it opens the possibility to access online profiles, among other things.

My tool DpUpdateCheck wouldn't be possible at all without HTTPJolie. So if users don't install the HTTPJolie plugin, all my work on that will have been for nothing. Not to mention a lot of planned future work.
