Hi,

i have a slight disagreement with the  contributor of the last two seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He insists, that UPN should appear in the Studios list. Actually, UPN was the airing network of the last two seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Anyway, the rules say:
Studios
List the Studios in the following priority.

    * Theatrical Release Studio(s)
    * Production Company(s)
    * DVD Distribution studio(s) if there is room available.

How should the airing network fit in this list? My point is, it does not. Therefore I voted No. The contributor insists, that UPN is the Distributor of these particular seasons and should appear at top in the Studios list. He demands, that i might change my vote.

So, the simple question is: which one is right? Me or him?

20th Century Fox Television classes as the distributor for Buffy and Angel. The airing channel is a venue, in a similar manner to a cinema chain. The distributor is '20th Century Fox Television', the production company is 'Mutant Enemy', and the DVD distribution is '20th Century Fox Home Entertainment'.

IMHO a tv network isn't a distributor but a production company, because without the network, the show wouldn't be produced at all. TV networks also have creative influence on the show, so it should be credited as producing company.

Where in this list does it state TV Network:

List the Studios in the following priority.

    * Theatrical Release Studio(s)
    * Production Company(s)
    * DVD Distribution studio(s) if there is room available.

Do not abbreviate Studio names. e.g, use Universal Pictures not just Universal; The Criterion Collection rather than Criterion or Criterion Collection; Walt Disney Pictures not just Disney or Disney DVD. Exception: If the studio name is too long to fit, use standard abbreviation rules.

There is further information about correct names for studios, and the opportunity to ask questions if unsure, in the Contributions forum.

A TV Network is not a Production Studio. And A show can be seen without a TV Network, look out on the internet for Stargate SG1, after ten years the show is going DIRECT to DVD, but it will continue. No Network involved.

Probably the same user who is insisting on changing all the actor profiles he's coming acroos to include the DoB's whether needed or not.
