What's the standard for cast regulars with episode dividers? I've seen it done two ways with the series regulars listed in each episode (ie Friends) and not listed and just above the divider (ie X-Files). Is there a standard for this?

The rule for this is not yet finished by the rules committee (so there is no final standard, yet), but I can already tell you, it will instruct you to list all credits within dividers. So there will be a complete list of credits for each episode, season regulars will not be listed above the dividers.

There was a poll on this issue and it indicated that a majority preferred to have no "main" cast, but to enter all cast members in every episode "as credited".

It is not in the Rules yet, but we would be prudent to follow this method in the interim.

entering 24 times kiefer sutherland for each season of 24 come on? nothing else to do I gues ? principal actors before divider of episode 1. It takes now already time to profile one season.
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

Yeah, I kind of prefer having cast regulars above dividers... The reason I asked is because I'm working on a season of Frasier and its a bit of a pain to have to add the 5 regulars 24 times...

Now if there was a way to right click the actor and do a "Copy" and "Paste" that will do both actor and character, it'd make it a bit easier.

What I'm currently doing (when I KNOW the principal credits don't change between episodes), is only putting them in the first episode, then after that batch is done, copy the whole xml into notepad, copy-paste the main cast where necessary, then copy the whole lot back into profiler.

There were plenty of people that wanted to put the main cast just once at the top instead of in each episode, but as the discussion went on, more and more often it was found to cause problems and inconsistancies.  Therefore, as TigiHof and Hal said, the rules will almost certainly be to list the entire credits for each episode within each divider.

A shortcut for the copy/paste issue other than working in notepad is to right-click on the name you want to copy that is already listed in the credit box and select Find Cast Member.  That will select the cast member on the left.  Select that name on the left and drag it back over to the righthand listbox to place it in the location you want.  Have to be careful about the initial drag, since if your mouse moves over another name in the lefthand listbox before leaving the box, the program will select that other name instead.

I find this method more handy when the credits vary a good bit between episodes, especially with ordering. (Example: 1: John/Joe/Mary/Bob; 2: John/Bob/Mary; 3: Joe/Phil/Mary; 4: John/Mary/Bob; etc).  Bit more of a pain when dealing with extremely long cast lists, though, since you often have to keep scrolling back and forth to find the name you want.  I vary between this and the notepad (well, I use UltraEdit, but still..) method depending on what feels easier at the time.

I'm using Tom Gaines' "Cast&Crew Editor" for TV series. With this, recurring cast is absolutely no problem. You edit an episode, save it and make the changes for the next episode. At the end I import all the files into Tom's other tool, his "CCViewer" and can simply transfer the data into the profiler with copy&paste.

This has already been extensively discussed and was decided, Giga: Won't happen. There are too many exceptions and oddities within episode credits for a common rule other than to simply use what's credited in every episode.
