| | Posted: | | | | I was wondering how do we handle DVDs whose release date has been either postponed or cancelled?
Do we leave the release date the same as was originally inputed or do we come up with some future date that's far into the future that's it's obvious it's not being released soom, something like 12/31/3000? Especially if we don't know for sure if it'll ever come out or not.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to have a checkbox or something in the dvd's profile that shows that the DVD has been postponed or cancelled for these few cases. |

| | Posted: | | | | Well... especially since they are going strong on sources I would say making up (besides we never put made up info in the online database) a far off date would be out. I would say leave it alone until they announce a new date.
Though the checkbox idea might be a good idea to bring to Ken's attention. I would put something like this into the feature request forum. | | | | Pete |

And as for postponed without a new date I would just leave alone till the new date is announced. | | | | Pete |

I agree with Addicted that any update to the main Db must be reliable data (correcting data that's wrong with more data that's wrong is unacceptable) so I leave it until something is announced.

| | Posted: | | | | Well, I think that most of the times the release dates are left alone, unless a new one is found online at a DVD store.
Lawrence of Arabia was supposed to come out in May, but was "indefinitely postponed" but no one has changed the date, as far as I can remember.
The IMAX film Roving Mars was supposed to be out last August, and never showed up. The release date wasn't changed. Now a few months ago it was announced as coming out in July this year, so then the release date got changed.
I guess it's up to Ken whether he wants to leave something in the DB if there is no clear-cut release date. |
