Im starting to work on my boxsets and parent profiles and was wondering, what about disc bought seperatly but were in a box set? Like the Stephen King collection(Graveyard Shift,Pet Semetary, ect) they belong in a box set but I bought them seperatly so what then?

Also do I insert the video format in the parent profile?

Mike:

You would simply download the information on the title and, of course not assign to any Parent because you don't have one. If it is in the boxset, with the Same UPC, nothing else would need to be done, unless you can find the SRP. IF it has a different UPC# or NO UPC(entered by Disc ID), then change the UPC to match yours and Contribute as necessary.

so... like the Stephen King's becouse I bought them seperatly I only enter UPC as normal but dont include the box set?  And like the Alien Legacy becouse it was bought in a box set I enter each disc ID and the boxset UPC then in the boxset information(which is the parent right) under box set info I add those single editions?

Yes to the first part. Maybe to the second, I have Alien Quad not legacy, which was packaged in a massive gatefold digipak, so Disc ID entry was the way. If they are individually cased within the Box, and the individual films have UPC's on them, then use UPC's, remember from the viewpoint of the Online the boxset is more or less irrelevant as it handles that Box and the titles separately...at this time in the Online children are not assigned to the parent.

so for the Stephen Kings even though purchased seperatly they have the same disc id as the box set so why dont i enter them as a box set?

And the Legacy was purchesed in a box set but the slip cover is missing, but do I enter them as individual UPC or disc id?

Im just trying to get everything straight.most of my box sets the slip covers have been thrown out or destroyed and as I said some of my movies originally came from a box set but are sold individually now.

You have me confused here.  The parent profile should have a UPC attached to it, not a disc ID.  The individual disc IDs would be attached to the individual child profiles.

I own this set.  Each individual case has a UPC so must be entered that way.  You then attach those to the parent profile via the 'box set' function.

Right. How could you enter them as a boxset...you have no Box.

that was my point I dont have most of my slip covers anymore for my box sets so do I still enter them as box sets or individual titles?

For instance the Indiana Jones, I have no box anymore and no UPC for the discs.

It does takke a little knowledge, Mike. What you do locally is your business. But Indiana was NEVER released in ANY form other than Boxset. So this would be a personal issue for you. In fact, if my meory serves Indy also did not have UPC's on any of the cases, I believe they are all entered via Disc ID.

If you don't want Parent Profiles, you don't have to use them.  The child profiles can stand alone.  You can even update and contribute them as they are separate from the parent.

Skip is correct.  These were never released individually and do not have UPCs.  They are in the main db via disc ID.  That being said, you do not have to use the parent profile if you don't want to.  Just add them via disc ID and there they are.
