I have downloaded Mediadogg's LoadDVD plugin.  Now I would like to figure out how to hook all four of my DVD changers up to talk to my computer.  I have no idea where to start or what I would need to do this.  I have 4 disc changers right now ... cx850d, cs860 and 2 cx995v's all hooked up through a switcher box to my 42" plasma.  (Anyone want to come over for a movie night?)

I need to know how to hook them all up to talk to my computer, so I can play them through DVDProfiler.  Can someone give me simple step-by-step intructions on what I need to do to get them all linked together and to DVDProfiler?

I'm not familiar with cx850d or cs860. I do own the cx995v myself.

The cx995v does not have any way to connect to a computer. It is controlled by LoadDVD using infrared commands that simulate your use of a remote control. To do this, you must purchase and install a device called USBUIRT. All of the information about this is in the LoadDVD thread near the end where I announce the upgrade to support cx995v.

The designer and author of USBUIRT also has a support web site and responds to emails. Now let me find out a bit more about those other models. My guess is that they will also need to be controlled wiith infrared. Edit: Wow you are an early adopter. Those are old units, and probably will require infrared. The cx860 (not cs860) has a published region code hack which makes it worth its weight in gold! You can play DVDs from anywhere in the world! If I can't find the infrared codes on the internet, you might want to consider lending your remotes to me for a couple of days so that I can program the codes into LoadDVD. But that's down the road. you first have to decide on the USBUIRT and get it installed. If you live somewhere warm and sunny, just buy me a plane ticket!!!

Sony has a new high-priced device ($3500) called Home Entertainment Server. I think the price will come down, and there will be other companies making changers. I want to support as many of them as possible.

If I thought you'd come set my system up for just a plane ticket, we'd have a deal!  And I do live someplace warm .. TEXAS!

Oh .. and I can send you the remote for the older sets.  I have them running off of the remote commander so I don't use their remotes.  Just let me know where.

I just ordered the USB-UIRT+56.  It is out of stock, so I don't know how long it will take to get here, but it's on the way!

Sending you a PM. Better put some beer on ice, and order the pizza!  (kidding ...)

Edit: Let me check internet first for the codes. I'll send you a PM if I need yours ...

I found the codes for the DVP-CX850. Are the codes the same for the DVP-CX860? If so, I'm set - but I just don't know how you're going to use them both. The USBUIRT is so powerful, it will blast evey device in the room - so both machines will try to respond. Hopefully, the codes are different.

No, that's a battle I've always fought.  I have a home-made cover I put over the machine I am not using to block the signal.  It's low-tech but it works.  I wish I could have different codes on each one, and someday I'll replace the older machines with newer ones so I can select the codes, but for now, I'm stuck with the duplicate codes.  If the USBUIRT is so powerful that it will go through my cover, I'll have to rig something else up, but hopefully it will suffice.

USBUIRT is one of the HTPC blasters many people have. Which one did you have in mind?

Also, I would appreciate seeing the data or a URL link to the IR blaster survey from which you base your assertion.

Paypal is the fastest way to change my priorities. I will even overlook sarcastic remarks if you pay me.    Another way many people have successfully used is politely requesting an enhancement in my thread.
