There are several errors in the Norwegian rating descriptions (it seems the descriptions have been taken from Cinema-ratings which do not apply for DVD's).

Ratings should be looking like this;

A = Tillatt for alle  (not "tilaten for alle")

I don't know how long it has been like this (just noticed it myself when doing the 3.5 upload), but the current description is both wrong and in "Nynorsk", so a change is IMO warranted

I haven't noticed this, yet, but than I haven't installed the 3.5 version either   I'll wait for the final release. However, I would go for Berak's suggestion, since the existing ratings are meant for the "Big Screen" (cinema) where a 4yo can see a 7yo rated movie in accompany(?) with an adult.

Just out of curiosity,
Here the ratings are "restricted from under 13 year olds" etc, but e.g. "11 år" implies neither a suggestion or restriction, are the rating descriptions really like that?

Whispering has a point. On Medietilsynet's web site they spell it out: "Aldersgrense 7 år" and so on, see http://www.medietilsynet.no/no/Tema/DVDvideo/Aldersmerking/.

My vote would go to using "Aldersgrense x år" as rating description.

Yes, the Norwegain rating descriptions are nothing more, nothing less. They restrict young people from seeing material not suited for them, and that IMO is what ratings are for. The simpler the better.

Cinema-ratings are slightly different, as explained earlier.

This is something that Warner Norge has suggested, and is not an "official" rating method in Norway - yet. It might be in the future, but as of now, it's enough to have "xx år" somewhere on the cover (usually on the back).

If, in the future, Medietilsynet decides that all DVD's must be marked as suggested by Warner Norge, it would warrant a change to what you suggest Dag Ove. In my humble opinion..

Here the cover only has a number (3, 7, 11 etc), BUT the description of the rating is e.g. "Only for persons over 7 years". http://www.vet.fi/english/elokuvat_ikarajat_ja_merkinnat.php

I thought that was what you're discussing here? ...and the dropdown in DVDP only has whats written on the cover.

So just to be clear:
Rating: 18
Rating long form: "Only for persons over 18 years"
Rating description: Why it got that rating.

I thought you were discussing the bolded one?

It seems that the Norwegian profiler community is in agreement that the descriptions should be changed?

If no-one opposes, I'll PM Ken and ask him to do the update...

Bumping this again in the hope that Ken will make the necessary changes. The mouse-over descriptions are wrong, and it looks ugly as well in the online.

Please change it Ken!

I am bumping this thread yet again, as nothing has happened yet, and the way it stands today is just plain idiotic. The descriptions are, as said earlier, meant for Cinema - not DVD and has nothing to do here at all!

Please - Ken - can you do something about this?!

Agreed. It should be removed, since we don't have specific ratingdetails on DVD/BD here in Norway. The rating descriptions, as mentioned before, is strictly for cinematic releases. Please Ken, look at this tread, and re-move-it
