Hi folks,

I'm using this fine tool just since a few days. I already contributed two DVDs to the database, which were accepted at once. However, the third one was declined, and I do not understand why. It says
"Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were non-specific. Please specify the exact source for your changes."
In the contribution note, I wrote this:
"All data taken from DVD and cover, except release date, taken from http://www.amazon.de/Halloween-2-Special-DVDs/dp/B0041VHBPQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1299317448&sr=8-1"
I would be thankful if anybody could tell me how to be even more specific.

I'm just wondering because I wrote exactly the same notes during contributing those two other DVDs before, you know.

Thanks for your time .

My guess would be the cast and crew data which have to come from the movie itself (i.e. not a third-party database like IMDb).

Maybe it was declined because you didn't specify where you got it. *wild guess*

If you added cast or crew, you have to specify where you got them from.
It always should be the end credits of the movie itself if such are available.

Thanks for the quick answers .

Well, I added cast and crew. And when I write "all data taken from DVD", then it means I extracted cast and crew directly from the movie. Just as I did the two times before.
Do you think I have to write
"Cast and crew taken from credits and end credits of the movie"?
Should I retry to contribute?
It would be curious if this works, because I wrote exactly the same phrase in the contribution notes as before, and it worked out fine.

The screeners are just people, too. They make mistakes, too..

And since it's an initial contribution you didn't even have to wait seven days for your rejection.

Yeah, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a direct mistake by myself. So it would not be annoying or something if I sent it in again, with a more detailed contribution note?

Screeners are only human, and it is easy to misread the notes you quoted, like "all data taken from [link], except release date", where you mean that only the release date is taken from [link]. Probably best not to try to make it all into one sentence.

Yes, absolutely. Keep in mind that while the screeners can verify something like Overview against the back cover, if on file. They can't read your mind, and they do not have access to every copy of every film. So the more information in your notes the better.
ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!!

Hey, I submitted it again and it worked fine, it's already released  . I will know better from now, thanks again.

I've got one more question, since I was helped really quick here: I cannot imagine any ways to determine the SRP of DVDs. I checked the homepage of the studio and of the publisher, but they didn't recommend any price. The contribution rules don't give any hints neither. So, where do I look it up?

Sometimes the SRP is unknown or very hard to track down with any reasonable certainty, so it's often best to just leave it blank if the studio/distributor doesn't list it.

But if you can find it listed at more than one online store, and they both match...it's usually safe to add that as the SRP. Just be sure to put the sources in your contribution notes.

Both the UK and US Amazon sites give SRP (list prices).

Unfortunately, I don't believe Amazon in Germany do. Maybe due to different consumer rules in different countries.
