I recently upgraded my phone from the Galaxy s4 to the Galaxy s5. I never had any issues with the mobile app on the s4, but with the s5 I can't get it to connect to my server so that I can sync the app with my DVD Profiler that is on my laptop. Any idea's why this could be happening, or what I can do to correct it.

Thanks
Dave

Do you still have the S4? If so, what happens when you attempt to connect from the S4?

I do still have the s4 and it will no longer connect either. I check my Samsung tablet and it will not connect either.

Check whether the IP address of your PC changed.

The most likely remaining potential cause is a software firewall blocking the connection.

No system changes were made from the s4 to the s5! No additional anti-virus or firewalls set up. All my android devices have stopped connecting

I have my IP change (laptop or PC) from day to day. My first step is to run the Test and see what comes back.
Just for yucks, is the wi-fi turned on, on your new phone?

Software firewalls frequently update themselves and sometimes start blocking connections that they once allowed. The solution that works is to uninstall the firewall, test the connection, then if it works, reinstall the firewall and configure to allow the connection.

Do I get this correct:
You are trying to connect your Android Device with computer A to access a database that is running on computer B?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I have DVD Profiler on my laptop. I'm trying to connect my mobile app to it so that i can sync the database to my phone/tablet. I know it can be done because I was able to do it on my s4 and tablet.

There are several things that can block a connection:

- Incorrect IP address (also try rebooting and recheck the IP)
- Software firewall
- Router configured to segregate wired from wireless connections

Basic information required:

1) IP-address of Android device
2) IP-address of Laptop
3) Chosen connection method (Setting within DVDProfiler-Android): WiFi or Internet
4) Chosen connection method (if WiFi/Local): By device-name (Laptop) or IP-address (Laptop)
5) What else did you change (Soft-/Hardware) except from S4 to S5?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?
